3.5 stars.  A dual POV between Maybe (the best friend's little sister) & Milo.  A little irritating at times with the name Maybe & some things I had to re-read because if was confusing if it was referring to her name or the decision of "maybe" plus she bit her bottom lip too much.  They've know each other since childhood & the age gap is around 10 years but he calls her "kid" all the time.  I also thought it was weird that she called her parents by their first names. Premise is she wants to lose her virginity and asks Milo to do the honors.  It leads to fun communication and spending time together while falling for each other.  Her new friend Lena is a great supporting character and people from other books (Thatcher, Dr. Shepard, & everyone's favorite lawyer, Cap) also make appearances. Not a "wow this is great book" but a decent story by MM but nothing to crow about.

In my effort to start to review some of my back catalog, let me start here. I picked this up because I was new to KU and it was recommended in a number of places, so why not? Dude, I am SO happy I did - not only did I enjoy the story, but I was laughing the whole time... like, ugly, side splitting, snort-y laughter. Yeah, while I leave you with that attractive visual, let's jump in.

Maybe is a 24-year-old virgin trying to chase her dream of becoming an editor while working in her parents' flower shop who has sent six of the most mortifying text messages, including offering her virginity, to her childhood crush... who just happens to be her brother's best friend, Milo.

Milo, on the other hand, is a successful billionaire who is intrigued by this new Maybe - she's still awkward, but in an adorable way, and she has definitely Grown Up. He's totally keeping an eye on Maybe for her brother, Evan, right? She's like a little sister to him... until she isn't. And now Maybe is the only thing on his mind. Evan will understand, maybe? Will Maybe understand?

I loved Maybe and Milo - the whole friends-since-childhood-to-lovers trope is completely a catnip situation for me. (Maybe because it keeps me hopeful? Who knows?) Honestly, I completely related to Maybe's brand of awkward and hope to see more of her in other Max Monroe books. I love that Milo runs in the same circles as the Billionaire Bad Boys club and we get to see glimpses of them in the book as well. Not that I knew that when I read this book. I got to appreciate that once I started going through the majority of the Max Monroe catalog (and there's so much more to read).

This was my first Max Monroe book and I didn't realize there was a whole series (and another book) before this that tangentially ties into this book. It definitely can be read as a standalone and was a great introduction to these authors - in fact, as soon as it was done, I started to look for more books by them and completely immersed myself in their world. Thanks, KU for introducing me to a new-to-me favorite author(s)!

This just wasn’t worth my time. I find these 2 authors to be hit or miss. I was shocked it had such a high rating on Audible but it’s free with membership, and those are always rated higher. Narrators weren’t terrible.  Very tolerable. But I found FMC to not have much character development, other than she’s naive and is a 24 yo virgin. Not a whole lot of character development for MMC either. It’s lighthearted but just no. Very little 🌶️

I downloaded this from Kindle Unlimited expecting a quick, fun contemporary romance based on the synopsis. It was quick - but quite cliched in terms of the plot. Younger sister has been in love with her brother’s best friend who suddenly realizes she is not a kid anymore.

The promised wrinkle of sending him an embarrassing text message lasted for a couple of pages only. After that, it was a tale that I’ve read before. All of which would have been fine but the writing was quite annoying. The characters all speak in what should be "snappy banter" but comes across as false and not particularly funny. It’s kind of like a potty mouth Sex and the City in its deliberate awareness of how smart and funny it is. The first person POV also generally bothered me as the real difference between the hero and heroine was the level of swearing instead of character.

I would recommend that you download a sample of this; if the writing clicks you may enjoy this more than I. The plot is common enough but it’s the writing which is the true hurdle.

In the end an average two stars for me as it was ok - I finished it without losing me temper as some contemporaries make me do.

Mabel (Maybe) Willis is a 24 year old, Stanford Grad, virgin, who has moved back to NY to look for a job in publishing. Milo, is the 30 year old billionaire best friend of Maybe's brother, Evan. Evan reaches out to Milo to ask for his help in giving Maybe a foot in the door of NY publishing houses. In his head he sees Maybe as a lanky awkward girl with brown hair. In reality, Maybe is a beautiful, curvy, brunette that sends un-brotherly thoughts to his brain, among other places! When Maybe accidentally sends a text with very specific instructions as to what she would like Milo to do to her, she wants to curl up and hide - forever. This book is laugh out loud funny, with quick, witty, strong and sassy characters and is an absolute joy to read.

Cute.  Predictable but funny and entertaining.  Very tropey but good one.

This story was so sweet and so much fun. I absolutely fell in love with the characters. I found myself laughing out loud throughout the story, just as I do with all Max Monroe's rom-coms. This is definitely a favorite of mine. I can't wait to see what these authors come up with next.

I love books that build on a connection by adding in humor balanced with vulnerability. This was one of those books. It was genuine and real. Even though Milo was technically a billionaire it never factored into the story.

I wanted to see more at the end considering it took the whole book to get to this point. There HAS was a given but I just wanted to see more of it.
