Celebration of Ignorance
I first read the book when I was 7 or 8, almost forgot anything from it, until recently I found Mont Blanc making a Le Petit Prince collection that I decided to reread the book to find out why exactly is the book being so popular around the globe.
I was disappointed to say the least.
The book has some symbolism and philosophy involved, which seems to promote that we should stay childish and “not like the adults”. I do not believe this is how the world works. Look at all those stupid tweets and “opinions and comments” people make all on the internet. Is the human race not ignorant enough? We should be learning, studying, exploring knowledge, instead of just sitting there looking at stars and imagine a stupid nonexistent flower on a whatever asteroid, and a sheep, and nano-volcanoes...
Stop being childish, grow up and get a life.
Figures are important, calculations are important. If you think it’s not, that’s why you crashed your plane in the desert in the first place.
Not to mention the kid was so annoying, if I were the serpent I’d kill him on page one.
The reason I gave two stars instead of one is, it could make a fair children book, but just too overrated.

-> "Nje dite pashe diellin te perendonte 43 here"-the ti. Dhe pak me vone shtove: "A e di se kur je i trishtuar te pelqejne me shume perendimet e diellit?"
"Po ate dite qe e pe perendimin e diellit dyzet e tre here, a ishe po kaq i trishtuar?". Por princi i vogel nuk u pergjigj.
->"Ja e fshehta ime. Mbaje mend. Eshte shume e thjeshte: Syte nuk shikojne, eshte zemra ajo qe sheh me te vertete. Gjerat me te rendesishme jane te padukshme per syte",- tha dhelpra."Koha qe ti i ke kushtuar trendafilit tend, e ben ate kaq te rendesishem."
-> "Syte jane te verber. Duhet kerkuar me zemren."
->"Kur ne jemi te ndare, ti do te dalesh naten te shohesh yjet. Por ylli im eshte kaq i vogel sa qe eshte e veshtire ta shohesh dhe une nuk di si ti te ta tregoj. Ndoshta keshtu eshte me mire. Ylli im per ty do te jete diku mes pafundesise se yjeve. Atehere, ti do te veshtrosh te gjithe yjet e do te te behen te gjithe te afert, do ti ndjesh te gjithe si te tute. E pastaj dhe une do te te dhuroj dicka... Atje do te me kerkosh mua. Une do te qesh nga ylli im dhe per ty atehere do te qeshin te gjitha yjet. Ata do te jene te qeshur per ty. Ndryshe nga te tjeret, ti do te kesh yje te qeshur."

I liked it, didn't love it. Will try it again sometime because my mom adores it and I'm curious to see if I ever get to that place!

What a profound little book! I am a sucker for life lessons rolled into abstract, borderline distracting, language. I had a good time dissecting this book and applying meaning from my own life. I loved the way The Little Prince spoke and his indignation when people wouldn't answer his questions (so relatable). I took my sweet time with this book because I wanted to savor its every being.
"The fact is that I did not know how to understand anything! I ought to have judged by deeds and not by words."
"It is much more difficult to judge oneself than to judge others."
"What is essential is invisible to the eye."
"Once again I felt myself frozen by the sense of something irreparable. And I knew that I could not bear the thought of never hearing that laughter any more. For me, it was like a spring of fresh water in the desert."
"But if you tame me, it will be as if the sun came to shine on my life. I shall know the sound of a step that will be different from all the others. Other steps send me hurrying back underneath the ground. Yours will call me, like music, out of my burrow."

Charming, but I just didn't get it. I asked my husband if he had read it, and if so, if he got it, and he said, "It's an artsy French book, right? What's to get?"

"O pequeno príncipe" deveria ser leitura anual obrigatória para todos os adultos.
