I’m sorry it took me more than a month to finish this book .. first of all this book is slow paced.. the first chapter seem promising and interesting enough to grab my attention however, the more I read it becomes more and more time consuming and the story is getting more boring I have to take a break during in the middle. Not that this was a bad story it was just slow making us believe that some of the plots are overlapping. Everything is happening in normal pace till the last 50 pages .. God the ending was crazy and emotional and honestly it changed my view about the book .. the story and relations were build just for that last moment and it was worth it to read it till the end . I also find the part where the girl read the book to the others in the basement .. beautiful.. The characters are well written and sentences and conversations in the book are quotable and impressive…. I rate this 4 out of 5 ⭐️

I had a choice to read this in 9th grade but i chose that weird mystery book instead for some reason and so i really wanted to read it on my own so when we were learning about WWII and WWI in WHAP it inspired me into a mood for a war book so i picked up the Book Thief and i was soooo good! The beginning was kind of confusing but once you get into it you can't put it down! I absolutely loved how this was from the view of a foster daughter of a German at this time because you don't see it very often and how the war was hard on everyone, not just the Jews and others. The ending had me tearing up though because it was so damn sad and i was totally not expecting that!

I have to admit that while I adored the story, I had a really hard time getting into the style in which it was written. It somehow made it a little hard for me to get emotionally attached to the characters. My favourite thing about this book, I must say, are the descriptions and the metaphors. They are masterful.

just ugly sobbed for an hour. this is wholeheartedly the most impactful book i’ve ever read and i think i’m going to have to take a whole week to recover but that’s ok, it was an experience that i am grateful for.
