Oh I liked this book. There’s something about hazy, fairytale stories that really work for me. Roshani’s writing almost borders on too lush for me, but she never fully crossed that line.

This book was just ok for me. Story about two girls, Indigo and Azure, while they are still girls(teenagers) and Indigo's husband when she is grown. Told from Azure and the Bridegroom point of view. This book had potential but didn't live up to it for me.

Ok wow, what a book! I was gripped from page one and wow. This book definitely took me on a journey. This book is all about secrets, lost memories and fairy tales. The concept was really interesting, and the execution was impeccable. The writing really transported me, and left as confused as the main character at times. The dual perspectives really added to the story too! I feel like my mind is a little muddled in this review, but know that I LOVED it!

The plot and writing were just too elusive for me, to the point of not feeling invested enough to continue. I saw a reader review that said they enjoyed the book but still not sure what happened. ...and they finished it. This book has a lot of beautiful prose, but flowery writing styles typically aren't for me. But I did like this quote:
"For the first moment in years, I knew the lost peace of childhood, when autumns were endless and secrets unheard of, and even time revealed its coveted workings."

DNF at page 132, 49%. Idk. Just couldn’t get into it. Had some interesting tidbits.

This is not my favorite of Roshani Chokshi's books. Honestly, the premise really didn't speak to me. Fairytales are a hard sell for me and this book is part of the reason why. Despite the beautiful language and the overall skill I know the author possesses...this book felt hollow. Insubstantial in a sense. There wasn't anything beyond the surface.
