this was the first book i read for my dissertation, though i did want to read it even before. i found it really interesting, with a raw exploration of mental illness and societal expectations. the final third of the book delves into especially dark themes, which made it emotionally intense to read. despite that, it’s still a very powerful and thought provoking book.

This book gave me an insight on myself but from a more extreme point (the point I nearly lead myself into). So this book even tho it was really sad and depressing, made me actually meet myself.

i mean, it’s the bell jar. it makes me so sad knowing how autobiographical this was for her. i love the perspective, it’s morbidly funny at times, too. i listened, and maggie gyllenhaal read this very well. sylvia plath you will always be Her

“If you expect nothing from somebody you are never disappointed.”

The depiction of how mental health was treated back then was very... unsettling. This book was very trippy and confusing at times, but the depiction of mental health and madness was well done. The writing is good, and it's easily accessible to read. This book surprised me in some ways, and unsettled me in others. It was a pretty decent read.

It is a wonderful and  haunting read. This book really reflects well on conditions of women on those times and how little choices and freedom they had on how they have to live there lives and It also reflects and presents a clear picture on menta health stigma on those times.

On Character wise, Esther Greenwood was plain, confused and has her own flaws like any women at her age typically do about still that only made her more real and how she goes through her mental issues and societal pressure. She was adequate to what this novel tries to encompass.

I Read this is kinda semi autobiography of author which is really haunting and made us appreciate how conditions of women have improved through time and how mental health is considered an issue compared to the times the novel takes place in.
