Casey Han is a complicated and flawed character. You want to roll your eyes at her and her bad decisions in life but you also want to root for her.
This book is heart-warming and complicated as well. It tackles class, race, sexism, privilege and everything that makes life sad and happy and complicated.

I thought that this book was really well written by having it go back-and-forth from the different perspectives of the people that we were following. It was kind of jarring every once in a while when I was reading and all of a sudden it was like a totally different person. That is the only reason I’m giving it 4.5 stars. I really enjoyed seeing the world from a Korean families perspective because it is a very different point of view and their life is very different but I could also really relate to some of the things that the family was doing and the parents were doing and understanding where they were coming from when they would do these things. I really enjoyed following this family throughout this for years of your life and seeing how it develops and the choices that they were making the choices that were happening around them, and how that affected them and I really just enjoy this book. I know this wasn’t a memoir, but it kind of felt like one and that was very interesting to me. I would, for sure recommend this book to anybody and really push them to read it or listen to an audible. It’s very well written, and this author did an excellent job, and really putting forth the story that she was trying to tell.

kind of a stressful read since it deals with an endless post-grad crisis; the project of the book was really interesting but I don't know if I would normally pick up something chronicling sex/rich ppl/adultery/financial troubles that was so long. it felt soo long when i started but i got really invested in the characters and the growth they experienced. also just kind of a bizarre read as an asian american from a slightly later decade, as well as the fact that it's a book about wall street that takes place before both 9/11 and the 2008 financial crisis happened. the way the book wraps up towards the end made up for the sort of endless struggles that I felt so sad reading, and overall even though I felt like this really was a book capturing a different generation I really appreciated the snapshot it provided of that era
