It was sweet, not as much information given than in the film, but an overall good read.
I really liked Pat, the narrator, and was rooting for him throughout.

A fantastic book about depression, love, and family. Read it before you watch the movie.

I think I would have given this book 5 stars if I hadn't seen the movie first. I'm disappointed that I didn't read the book before watching the movie and I'm also disappointed that the movie didn't seem to follow the book well.
Pat Peoples almost seems like a young child in the majority of this book, instead of a 35 year old man. It was an honest and entertaining read that left me wanting more. I want to know what happens with Pat and Tiffany. They both have had so much heart ache in their lives and struggle with mental illness. I do think part of the beauty of the book is leaving their futures a mystery to the reader.

This book was amazing. And while the movie was great and I love Jennifer Lawrence, the book was better. A heartwarming, emotional roller coaster.

Once upon a time, I had this book checked out from the library (before everyone went nutso over it and clogged up the holds list...) and I returned it without reading because I thought it sounded like a book about football and I don't like football. That is not incorrect. There is a lot of football in this book.
But that's okay, I just skimmed over a few paragraphs here and there. No worries. I liked Pat's voice a lot. It's easy to see why Mr. Quick is writing YA now - he's good with the closely-narrated, first-person voice. Now if only the holds list for the movie would unclog, I can watch that too...

My first book by Quick. Enjoyed his writing style and was quite taken with the story even though it isn't my usual type of read.

I feel like this was an attempt at an adult version of The Perks of Being a Wallflower. It did not work for me.

at first, I thought the storyline kinda boring since too much explanation about eagles and giant. iam not fans of sport activities
however, in the end I love the story about how pat have to stand up again, move on from nikki and just realize there is a woman who can share his pain.. great one :)

So simple and so good. I really really loved this book, and the weird part is that I don't have anything more to say about that.
