I’ve had nearly identical thoughts to the narrator in this novella. To read my own thoughts written there on the page, spoken in another person’s voice… It was almost terrifying. And exhilarating.

A short story about a day in the life of a schoolgirl.

”Mornings are torture. I never have any confidence in the mornings”

I really love Dazai’s writing and this book did not disappoint. I’m staring at the ceiling trying to process this book and I don’t think I’ll be able to move on from this. Someone give me a blanket and some ice cream please!!

”The truth is that I secretly love what seems to be my own individuality, and I hope I always will, but fully embodying it is another matter.”
