This book uses several narratives.
Joey is a twenty something newlywed living with her brother and his pregnant wife.
Jenna is a teenager at a local school.
Freddie is Jenna's headmaster's son.
While the narratives move the plot along, police transcripts of interviews shares details regarding the brutal murder at the opening of the book.

The characters are realistic, everyday problems as well as the plot. Joey struggles with an illicit attraction. Jenna's mom suffers from severe paranoia. Freddie photographs the neighborhood.
I am always drawn to how are all these people connected?

Great story. Fast and easy read.

I'm disappointed that I called the twist and the ending and the ending twist. Still a good read, would recommend but didn't love it.
Also a little peeved about how they just threw Asperger's in for a bit? Like yes I get how they wrote certain pieces of Freddie to play to that, but they spent the bulk portraying him as a creep and then used Asperger's as a way to explain that away which felt weird and cheap.

Listened to this on Audible. Can’t say I’d recommend it, but it was fun for book club.

I really enjoyed her writing. I loved how the story was hold through everyone’s perspective, and we slowly got different angles of the situation. I enjoyed getting to know each character and their background dispute there being very few likable characters.

The book perfectly articulates the idea of obsession. Obsession in different forms and for different reasons. I was completely enthralled and had a hard time putting it down.
