This was a lovely collection about the relationship between humans and dogs. I listened to the audio read my Oliver herself, and I'd love to pick up a physical copy to read again.

I have been wanting to read Dog Songs for quite some time, and I am so happy to have found it available at my library! I read this entire collection snuggled up with my dog and it was wonderful. I giggled and I cried. What a gorgeous tribute to dogs. There were so many poems in this collection that I loved. If there is a dog in your life whom you love, read one (or all!) of the poems in this collection.

I think this may be my most favorite poetry book I have ever read. This was exceptional, I love MO and I love dogs!

Did every poem move me to tears? No, only a few. Ropes, The Sweetness of Dogs, School, and "For I will consider my dog percy" were my favorites. Some poems, like dogs, I love more than others. But the world without either is impossible to imagine.

I thought of giving this book 4 stars or 3. But it felt like I was giving Mary Oliver 4 or 3 stars. Then it felt like I was giving the idea of dogs 4 or 3 stars. And I'm sitting alone and don't have a dog whose head to scratch to apologize to for that idea.
