Wow. What a real and eye opening story. LJ Shen has definitely become one of my favourite authors of 2020 and her latest, The Villain, once again made me feel emotionally connected to fictional characters!

Cillian, labelled the Villain by many, needs a bride. And who else to feel those shoes but the good-hearted, Persephone, who also is looking for her a knight in shining armour to save her from the debt of her ex-husband.
Only, Cillian is far from a Knight. He’s a lonely man with deep dark secrets, that only Persephone can and will find. With the biggest secret, defining why he is the villain and why he feels “nothing”. Except the feeling of love for Persephone (of course).

4/5 Stars.
The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is Cillian isn’t Hunter. Even though the raw reason behind why Cillian is so rude to Persephone and does push her away at first are revealed, I still felt mad at him for being disrespectful at unnecessary times to Persephone. If only he let her in 8 years earlier!

I love the Boston Belles series. This was a bit darker than the first, The Hunter, but still had moments of levity - thanks to Hunter’s shining personality popping up when a laugh is needed to break up the seriousness.

Looking forward to the next in the series!

Immensely enjoyed Cillian being in denial of his feelings for Persephone. Internal struggles/dialogue about his feelings as well as dry humor was hilarious.

Another hit..

It’s another hit story from LJ. She can’t go wrong, I would have preferred another 100 pages of love story but we got our HEA.
