Meh. Charley is angsty and silly again. I understand this is how she was written but some character development would be nice - aside from oh by the way divinity! And motherhood! (Neither of which are doing much to change her...) And the "my husband is sooooo hot" is getting past old now. Stop. Still, I can't hate it entirely. It's entertaining in a cotton candy literature way. (Light, fast snack that doesn't fill you up in any way, but is still fun to eat...)

The Curse of Tenth Grave
3.5 Stars

Charley Davidson, Grim Reaper extraordinaire, finds herself once again in the thick of things when she is asked to clear the name of a man wrongly accused of murdering her girlfriend. Her private life has also taken a turn for the worse as she and Reyes are both keeping secrets from one another.

Perhaps my tastes are changing, but this series is not as appealing to me as it used to be. Charley's snarky sarcasm isn't as witty or amusing, and her childish behavior is wearing thin. Moreover, the cases she investigates are glaringly obvious and the overarching storyline is becoming more confusing and less coherent with each installment.

On the romance front, Reyes is as dreamy as ever, but Charley really needs to learn to communicate with him better rather than jumping to conclusions. In addition, the sex in wowza hot, but I don't remember it being as graphic as this in the previous books.

Despite these issues, I am interested in finding out what eventually happens to Charley and the rest of the gang, so I will be reading to the end of the series.

this is the first time in a long time I don't have the next book in the series.. I'm going to go crazy what an ending I loved how much they went into each character revealing more and more with every chapter. I really can't wait to see what happens next!

So I was a tad disappointed by this book. It wasn't a bad book at all and was completely entertaining but I just felt underwhelmed. I always seem to have this problem with book series that don't have a set end. There were some important things that happened so I can't say that it's a filler but thats what this book felt like to me.

Charlie has her memories back and she learned a bunch of stuff about Reyes when her father passed through her. Big stuff, stuff that she doesn't want to talk to Reyes about. So the first bit of the book is Reyes and Charlie keeping secrets from each other. That annoyed me right off the bat. I love them together. They have too many ups and downs and in the end if they had just been honest with each other, it all would have worked out. They just need to get their shit together.

Like every other Charlie book, there is alot going on. Theres a couple murders, a cursed orphanage, Reyes may have another child, a crazy god running amuck, secrets, Osh almost dies.. twice, there's a young picture of Rocket, they get to see Beep, Garrett is following UB, and Reyes and Charlie make up and have a very good night full of sexy time. So yeah.. there is ALOT. So like I said, the book is by no means boring. I just felt like there was too much side jobs and not enough of the main plot line.

I will always love Charlie. I don't think it's possible to read one of these books with out laughing. I warn my coworkers when I'm going to listen to a Charlie book because I can't help but laugh out loud. SO I loved it. I am so freaking excited that the next book is coming out in January!!! WOOT. seriously I would have been super sad if I would have had to wait another year for the next one. So thank you Darynda Jones for that!

I fear the shark has been well and truly jumped for me. Book 8 more or less bookended things, book 9 was an okay postscript, and book 10 is already a book too far. I'm down to remembering the good times past.

I love how the main issue about this book is solved by the main character going "You know what? I am badass." and then promptly doing her job.

Don't get me wrong, I cried.
