I like to be able to see when people are talking. Please use quotation marks!

Heartbreaking, horrifying, and heavy, and so beautifully written. When your little, very ordinary world starts going to shit, how do you when its time to call it quits? Prophet Song is every modern man-made humanitarian disaster in slow motion. It is the making of the too oft used word - resilient - to describe the ones who survive. A menagerie of trauma experienced by those who remain.

Lines I Loved:
You never lose, you either learn or win.
The love we are given when we are loved as a child is stored forever inside us.
What the child will never recall from memory will always be known by him and he will carry it as poison in the blood.
The prophet sings not of the end of the world but of what has been done and what will be done and what is being done to some but not others ...
... the world is always ending over and over again in one place but not another.

Brilliantly written, cannot give 5 stars to a book that has given me this much anxiety though.

Maybe the booker prize was the friends we made along the way.

Notes:

-no paragraphs?

-Literally no mother instinct let alone survival instinct? Boiling frog syndrome maybe? At the very least a boring main character

- overwritten and wannabe poetic stream of consciousness

-why did Ireland become totalitarian overnight? How?

- I was really looking forward to this dystopia but it seemed so unrealistic in a time where you only need to turn on the news to get a lense into real-life misery and dystopic circumstances
