This book is well written, even though at times, it felt forced or contrived. It's a very slow burn. The heroine is smart, witty with a little snark, and self-deprecating to a fault. It took a bit for me to get into it at first (just being honest) but once I did, I felt invested. The character development definitely picks up steam as the plot pushes forward. The premise--two NPR reporters pretend to be ex-boyfriend/ girlfriend and dole out dating advice, only to fall for each other in the end. Their lie is exposed by their station manager (total dick move). While the sex scenes were good, they weren't steamy enough for me, which is a personal preference and not a criticism of the author. There is a literary quality to the writing, which I liked, don't get me wrong; however, that qualify makes this book feel...Je ne sais quoi...like not a romance but a romance b/c there is an HEA. It's walking this really fine line.

I really liked this one. I enjoyed their banter and the smolder that happened between them. I felt it was well done and a great example of how to do that in a modern romance novel.

I actually felt the grovel and the comeuppance for the real villain was perfect. Yes of course more would have been great but it was perfect for the type of person he was. And the grovel. Whoop the grovel. I don't even needs grovel in my romances but this one was spot on.

This is one that I could for sure re-read. I felt it was a nice mixture of steamy and sweet and was a huge fan of it all around, especially the mixed media parts.

This is NOT my typical genre. I dont really read or watch romcoms, but when my favorite book club has a steamy box and everyone is a buzz about it, I climb out of my genre box and give it a try!

This book was adorable, funny, sweet, and yes STEAMY, cue the cold shower!

I loved the dynamic between Shay and Dominic, and I mean who hasnt had a coworker that just drives them crazy! I met my husband when we both worked at a previous job, and although it was not as crazy of a story as this, I still remember the worry about dating a coworker.

Overall, I am glad I took a chance and picked up this book, and it will probably be one I read again!

In all honesty, I cannot say why this book was only a 3.5 for me. I thought it was well-written, the plot was cute, I liked the main characters, but it didn't give me the "Oomph" that I was personally lookin for. This is one of those stories that, there isn't anything glaringly wrong with it, and, in theory, did so many things right, but it didn't quite hit me the way I wanted it to.

Shae Goldstein lives for public radio. Employed at Seattle Public Radio since college, and promoted to the youngest producer they have, she can't imagine doing anything else. But lately, things have been tense at work, as a new colleague Dominic Yune, who has no experience in radio but has a graduate degree in it, thinks he knows everything about the job.

When the station, who is struggling to keep listeners, is looking for ideas, Shae comes up with the idea for "The Ex Talk" where two exes give relationship advise. But instead of casting two legitimate exes, their boss thinks they should be the host given the obvious tension between them. Neither Shae nor Dominic wants to lie to their listeners as they believe in truth in journalism, but it was made clear to them that it's either this, or unemployment. So, they start The Ex Talk and it is basically an instant success.

As the show grows, so does Shae's guilt, and it is further complicated when the pair legitimately start to fall for one another and if the truth of their deception is revealed, it could mean more than unemployment.

As I mentioned above, this was a cute story that I overall enjoyed. I also though the audiobook narrator did a phenomenal job as she has the perfect emotional inflection in her narration depending on what was happening.

But this one just didn't fully work for me, unfortunately. I am still glad I read it, though and would recommend to all of those looking for a sweet love story.
