I have a hard time imagining supporters of Trump’s administration actually reading this book. I must hand it to John Lithgow, though, for addressing those supporters in his introduction to this hearty recounting of the mess that was this presidential term. Until I read this, I had not been able to read about the current president, his actions, and the actions of those around him without getting severe anxiety, incredibly sick to my stomach, or wanting to crawl into bed and sob. Well, John Lithgow made it possible to read about the chaos and chuckle. The line drawings alone are worth a look at this collection of poems. It is a sad look at the last few years. Because, even with the laughs, the anxiety snuck in.

I was gifted the set of John Lithgow’s satirical poetry. I’m not generally a fan of political anything, but I love poetry and allusion. Set to many memorable childhood nursery rhymes/songs, one has to appreciate Lithgow’s creativity. He points out in his forward that he’s aware that his humor in this set of poems will likely not be received well amongst Trump fans.

Mildly amusing. I adore Lithgow and this book sounded like it would be very enjoyable, but it sadly didn't quite live up to my expectations. Although I appreciate the clever attempt, most of the poetry here isn't particularly good. The material might be better experienced and come across as funnier as an audiobook.

Sometimes you just want to read light verse that reinforces your political perspective, reminding you of all the awful characters in this Administration and all the scandals and all the corruption. This book fits that. Fun that some poems are in the style of famous authors. Line drawings too.

Well written. I enjoyed the introduction & the footnotes after each poem that explain who & what he's talking about. I need to get the next book!

I love John Lithgow's humor and enjoyed this book a great deal. Reading it reminded me to get out his "Singin' in the Bathtub" album and enjoy its sublime goofiness again. However, I could not believe that he only devoted a few short lines to Pence. I live in Indiana, and I could do an entire companion volume of verse about our former governor.
