Despite parenthood being a major theme of this collection and me not being a parent, I really enjoyed this poetry collection. The style of poetry kind of reminded me of Mary Oliver, and I just really connected with the theme of trying to live in a world that seems broken. Favorite poems included: Sky, At Your Age I Wore A Darkness, Past, Let's Not Begin, Size Equals Distance, Good Bones, and Rain, New Year's Eve.

Maggie Smith is definitely up there in the list of my favorite contemporary poets. Her poem “Good Bones” (yes it has the same name as the book) was called the 2016 Poem of the Year, and it spread rampantly across the internet. Read the full review here
