I loved this book which so perfectly captured the creative fantasy life of a busy little girl. Dory is the youngest in her family and her siblings often seem to find her to be more of an annoyance than a pal, but she is not phased by this and carries on with her attention-getting antics. The cartoon drawings are adorable and the story has a wonderful plot about the evil Mrs. Gobble Gracker. A great one to read aloud in order to share the fun.

Another fun early chapter book series. The chapters are a bit longer than what we've read recently, but it's illustrated on almost every page which always helps. It's also our first foray into realistic fiction featuring kids instead of animals, though with imaginary friends there's still an element of fantasy. Dory does have 2 older siblings who aren't very nice to her (realistic!), but words like stupid are used occasionally.

Dory (aka "Rascal") walks a fine line between being incredibly charming and incredibly annoying. Mostly charming, but only because I'm not her mother or older sister and therefore get to enjoy her antics from afar. But walking this line is where the real beauty of this book lies.

Dory is amazing! My daughter loves this book and we've read it straight through twice this week. If you have a toddler who is soon learning to read, get this book and laugh together!

This book is hilarious! I laughed out loud several times. Dory is so bright and imaginative (as must be the author). I kept trying to picture what she would be like as a middle school student. I've read that it is very common for children to have imaginary friends--- and gifted kids often have multiple imaginary friends. That's Dory! The illustrations are a delight as well.
