I absolutely hated it. Frenched was such a nice reading, so sweet, so sexy, but this one? A big NO.
Now I understand why no one liked it.
Firstly, Coco is a dumb girl and she's acting like she's 16, not 28. Hell, even my 15 years old sister is more mature than her. Why I say this? Well, she wants a really old and expensive as fuck house and she can't afford it. And she forgives Nick which leads to the next argument.
Secondly, he fucking cheated on her repeatedly and she always forgave him. He married her and then he left her without an explanation. It's even worse than breaking up via text message.

I found out all of these things by reading the first 10%. And I just couldn't take any more. I'm really disappointed.

after a promising 1st book i was actually happy to read this one. only to be disappointed.

nick is totally unlovable, always saying how he made a mistake and how he’s not perfect (can’t count how many times he said that as an excuse for his shitty past behavior). and i loved how
Spoiler he said he didn’t want to be called a cheater when he only didn’t cheat ONE TIME out of 3 i remember being talked about.
and saying i made mistakes ain’t solving the problem, man. not even that you were young. young people don’t have to make mistakes like that.

and he fucking laughs when she calls him out on his behavior? who tf is he?

also
Spoiler the pregnancy thing was completely unnecessary. it didn’t add anything to the story

coco should have known her worth, this man doesn’t deserve her even when she didn’t give me anything. there are many fish in the sea, babes. just because he was the first fish you caught doesn’t mean you have to keep it.

i didn’t mind the writing but the story overall just wasn’t giving anything. they shouldn’t have ended up together.

I liked this a whole lot. Nick was such a great hero - he adored Coco so much and just wanted to start fresh. It got to be pretty frustrating with how much she wanted to focus on his actions from the past. Even though he was clearly remorseful - and ultimately his reasons behind the choice he made was pretty weak - Coco just did not seem to want to move on. Obviously they worked through their issues but to me that was the weakest part of the story. Overall though I really enjoyed this couple.

Second chances are everything!! And I mean everything! Coco and Nick are so easy to fall in love with it’s no wonder that they fall so hard for each other….. eventually.

Melanie once again gives us a book with all the feels.

Not my favorite. Didn’t really like either main chats but Coco especially acted like she was in high school and not 28 years old.

More a 3.5 but I couldn't justify giving it a 4!

Audiobook Read (Audible)
Narrator: Vanessa Edwin
Single POV
I read this as part of my Melanie Harlow backlist blackout. My goal is to read all of her books!

I enjoyed this story about Coco and Nick. I LOVED Vanessa Edwin's narration. Her man-voice is HOT!
Second chance trope isn't my favorite to read, but I was able to enjoy this more because I have read Taste (which is Nick and Coco's sons story). So I ended up seeing so many similarities between father and son.
I do find myself missing reading things from the MMC POV. Melanie always makes it so fun to be in their heads.
I'm so glad though that this story was converted to audio.
