War okay - die Hauptcharakterin leidet unter 'ner Dosis slut shaming, aber das bessert sich gegen Ende hin - aber auch nur minimal.

Jordan Woods, high school senior and respected captain of the football team has everything planned out. Lead the team to victory and impress the college football scouts. Donovan Woods, Jordan’s father, is a professional quarterback and seems to support everyone in living their dreams except for Jordan. Because she’s a girl.

But Jordan has always just been one of the boys. She prefers practical to pretty and would rather spend her nights watching game tape to parties and make up. That is until Ty Green shows up on her pitch. He’s unbelievably gorgeous and one of the best players Jordan has seen on a high school team. Only problem is he wants her position and with Jordan mesmerized by the new arrival she’s can’t keep her head in the game.

There’s a lot to like about this story. I loved the fact that despite Jordan being female, she was able to hold her own with her team-mates. That’s not to say that sexism in the sport wasn’t addressed. I really admired the author for being able to tackle the issue without it becoming the main focus of the novel.

The romance was really well done. I liked how everything played out between the characters – I don’t want to get too much into it because I don’t want to ruin anything except to say that I was satisfied by Jordan’s choices romantically speaking.

I didn’t quite understand why someone who claimed to be one of the boys, hates typical female activities and was so focused on her goals was so over the top, heart over heels besotted with Ty – to the point of doodling their names in her diary and losing sleep – after just one very brief meeting. The instalove there really bothered me because from everything I’d been told about Jordan that just seemed so very out of character that it sort of bugged me. But despite that I thought that Jordan was a strong character who stood by her choices and her friends.

Overall I quite enjoyed this novel – and you don’t need to know a thing about sport to understand what’s going on. There are some fun and adorable characters, a well-thought out, entertaining plot that was well out together and a love story and pleased the romantic in me.

I really liked this but it was confusing in the start but once you get further in it gets better but it does slow down and then picks back up.

I am not, nor have I ever been, a football fan. Like, EVER. Seriously, I belong in the category of folks who only watch the Superbowl because of the feels-inducing commercials. So naturally, I was hesitant to read this. But I picked it up anyways because I've been running on a chick-lit craze all summer long stemming from my desire to read light, fluffy, whimsical novels without overcomplicated plots or too much thinking on my part. In short, beach reads, basically. And since I wasn't finding anything else at the time, I chose this.

And I'm so, so glad I did.

For one, I understand football a LOT better than I ever thought I wanted to know, mostly because it made me curious so I actually went and looked up things I hadn't been curious about before in regards to the sport. Also made me respect football players a lot more, and just athletes in general, and all the sacrifices they sometimes make to make their accomplishments.

Secondly, I thought there was a good balance between actual football activity, i.e., on the field, practices, games, and the drama going on in Jordan's personal life, outside of football. There was also very strong character development, and even minor characters had their moments in the spotlight when new revelations were suddenly discovered by Jordan (since it's first person POV) and they were all timed well and appropriate and true to the character's personality, whoever it was at the time.

And my last point, it wasn't as "light" as I originally thought it to be, because - SPOILER - there's something big that happened with Ty. But I thought that was a little bit understated and it should've been given more attention to, even from Jordan's perspective this could've been done.

Other than that, I thought it was a decent read.

It has been a while since I found a good YA romance. Catching Jordan is cool. A girl as QB, love triangle and whole lot of fun stupidity. I usually do not like immature stupidity, but Miss Kenneally makes it work with a sense of humor.

This is my first read by Miss Kenneally and I am lookong forward for another book by her. Such an enjoyable reading.

It's been close to a month since I read Catching Jordan and I still don't know how to put into words how much I loved this book. It has definitely found a place on my list of favorite books of all time. It was simply fantastic and I loved everything about it.

Jordan has always wanted to play football and wants nothing more than to play at the college level. Except that Jordan is a girl and not many universities will accept a girl on their team. But she's been lucky enough to play quarterback and be captain of her high school football team. And she's one of the best quarterbacks the school has had. Not only that, but she fits in on the team and all her best friends are her teammates. But then Ty Green shows up in town and he wants Jordan's position on the football team. Now not only is Jordan worried about playing college football, she also has to worry about Ty taking her sport on the team. But Jordan may have to protect more than just her position as quarterback. Because when Ty is around, all of a sudden Jordan feels more like a girl than ever.

Before I say anything else, I will say that I will try to limit the gushing. But I will say that I absolutely loved this book. Right from the start I fell in love with the story, with the characters and with Jordan's voice. I even enjoyed the football. Football isn't usually one o my favorite sports, but with Catching Jordan, it might as well have been. It was just perfect with this story and I couldn't imagine it with another sport. But in the end, football wasn't what was important in the story. What really matters is Jordan's story and how that story works with the story of the other characters. Really, all that to say that I absolutely adored this book.

Like I've said, what's important in this book are the characters' stories. Even though Jordan is the one who is telling the story, the book revolves around more than just her. But that doesn't mean I didn't like Jordan, because I loved her. It was refreshing to read about a girl who was into sports more than anything else. I loved seeing her struggle with feelings she didn't really understand and then seeing her act on those feelings once she figured them out. And of course, boys were definitely not lacking in this book. And my favorite was Sam Henry. I would love to have him as a best friend, Jordan was definitely lucky to have him in her life. Sam Henry was pretty much as good as they come, he was loyal and would have given his life for Jordan. And I'm glad things ended the way they did for everyone. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect ending.

Catching Jordan was a perfect read. I loved absolutely everything about the book and plan on rereading it over and over again. Definitely pick this book up if you get a chance, odds are you won't regret it.
