Very interesting continuation of the series even though it was a little slow with action as compared to the first, I'm looking forward to what's coming next.

Well. It's a very quick book, you could read it in a day. This book is expanding the romance between Alexa and Damian. With a bit of trial and errors, and it shows what they would do for each other. But the whole book is about Damian's little half brother being kidnapped and Alexa trying to rescue him. I honestly find this book a bit boring.

When I finished the first book, I thought that there was no where for the series to go. Man, did this book prove me wrong! An envoy from his uncles kingdom, Dansii, arrives unexpectedly, bringing along a gorgeous woman that none of the men in the guard unit seem able to resist. Damien, for that matter, seems unable to resist. Alexa broke his heart, to do what is best for Antion, or so she believes. After several attacks on Antion by their new ally, Blevon, the countries seem to be at the brink of war, again. Then Jax, Damien's half brother, is kidnapped, and Alexa goes looking to rescue him. She witnesses a new kind of sorcery, and has to fight her way back to Damien in order to break him from the spell that the Lady Vera has him under. So many twists and turns, Larson really knows how to keep her readers guessing and on their toes. She's put in a position where she has to choose who to save, has to try to keep everyone she cares about alive. The odds seem to be stacked against Alexa, as war with someone seems inevitable. She manages to escape capture again, but at what cost? She now has a secret to keep, and she needs to figure out a loophole so she can protect everyone she loves. Ultimately, she has to fight enemy infiltration, her feelings for both Rylan and Damien, her loyalty to Antion, and even those she loves.
Sorry, this review is a mess, but I'm really trying not to spoil anything, as there are so many plots going on.

I'm one chapter in and Alex has tightened her fingers around the hilt of her sword 3 or 4 times now. We've already got a weird tic, better than blushing all the time or being clumsy at least.

I knew the second
SpoilerVera
showed up that this was going to turn into a Little Mermaid scenario. It was instantly obvious.

Oh, fuck off Rylan.
Spoiler"Well, now that Alex and Damian are engaged it's time for me to be a dick to them because she didn't choose me."
He's acting like a little bitch and I'm getting sick of his shit.

... Well fuck ...
SpoilerI didn't want him to be held captive, mind-controlled and crippled. Goddammit, another rescue mission. This makes me look forward to the next book even less than I already was because there's going to be a lot of Alexa thinking about Rylan and how much he means to her and what a great friend he's been and how she can't imagine life without him and yadda yadda. Been there, read that.

Can the power of love friendship save Rylan from Rafe's mind-control? Will Alexa be an idiot and not tell Damian that she's under Rafe's control as well? Tune in next time!

Interesting story and good fight/action scenes. The romance/love was annoying to me.
