The approach to the topic often was mystic and contained a lot of metaphysical woo-woo. The author is aware of skeptical readers and encourages them to keep an open mind and meet half way. The book includes traditional medical advice from a variety of cultures. While it offers the Standard medical advice, for people who are very spiritual I think it adds to the life experience.

Really enjoyed this book and a reminder of a holistic, intuitive health approach that has been lost in the current era. A wonderful reminder to tap in to our natural need for balance, rhythm and nurture in order for our bodies to thrive, not just our minds.

A wonderfully meditative preconception guide that offers eastern and holistic wisdom and spiritual guidance on the journey towards motherhood.

In reading this book, I couldn't help but to feel the generations of women walking alongside me lending their strength on a journey only women can take. Weaving together the guidance of a variety of wise ones, Awakening Fertility connects the dots between numerous holistic philosophies from Traditional Chinese Medicine to Ayurveda. As someone who doesn’t have this type of motherly guidance in her life, it was gratifying and emotional to open myself up to receive the wisdom that other women and my ancestors can share, and to feel their spiritual support. The wisdom from the International Council of Thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers brought a flood of tears to my eyes. "A breeze is stirring. Feel the sun on your wings”

Beyond just preparing for motherhood, this book is a contemplation of womanhood, of looking deeper within and building a strong relationship with ourselves - of embracing our cyclical natures and the ebbs and flows of our lives. It’s a reminder to slow down and to truly listen and take care of ourselves.

My only critique is that I would have loved a deeper explanation of the recipes included, with additional information about why certain ingredients are included as well as suitable substitutions for people with different dietary preferences.

As someone who isn’t actively trying to have a baby, but who is starting to contemplate the idea - this book is exactly what I needed.

I greatly enjoyed the spiritual elements of this book. It opened my eyes to a different way of looking at my life, and in particular, the journey of TTC. I have made a series of positive changes in my life thanks to this book and I look forward to re-reading sections and continuing my learning as I go. I would recommend this to all women regardless of where they are at with their desire to have a child.

This book is a great guide for anyone who menstruates and is interested in learning more about their body and how to support it with great food through different phases. This book is an amazing reference for anyone who plans to birth children whether they want to start in 3 months or 3 years (or longer!). I have not tried all the recipes yet but the ones I have made have been delicious and included new-to-me ingredients I and my husband had fun trying out. I know we will be re-reading sections, and referencing recipes regularly for the next decade at least.
