After reading and really enjoying the first book in this series, I was excited to get back to the the ladies of Buxom Boudoir. This one was just as cute as the first in the series, I loved the Chicago setting, and the plot of this one. IMO this one isn't too trope heavy, and it could be read a standalone, but I do feel like I forgot some small things that weren't as detailed in this one, but talked about in the first book. I adored both MC's, and while sometimes Sam drove me crazy I did enjoy their road to their HEA. Just like the first book the friend group in this one was top tier, and I am really hoping that there will be a third book in this series, because I need Kit to have a book.

I truthfully could not connect with the female main character. She was consistently whiny and while I appreciate the representation of a fat black woman with a chronic illness, it felt very YA to me. I don’t think I would recommend this book strictly because thee main character and her love interest had a lot of growing up to do.
Graphic: Abandonment and Fatphobia
Moderate: Child abuse and Chronic illness
Minor: Medical content

I loved the first book in this series but this one missed the mark for me. The character’s individual issues came up repeatedly which was annoying and boring. Their origin is the MMC asking the FMC out repeatedly when she keeps saying no. Like? So much internal dialogue and telling friends things that I think the couple is together one-on-one, for maybeee 100 pages. MAYBE. And they get back together in the last 5 pages. Like fr?

Okay so I definitely liked this second book better than the first in the series but am giving it the same rating. I think one reason I enjoyed it was the female main character's journey (might have a little crush on her too). However, it was a long book and a lot for both MCs to deal with, and I'm not sure it all wrapped up like it could have with that many pages. Also, the narration felt very cyclical and repetitive at times, with a lot of exposition. Regardless, I'll still keep reading books from this series if there are more. Also, freaking gorgeous cover.
