Would not recommend. Started out seemingly interesting but devolved quickly into an unoriginal (the man in the high castle was written 50 years ago), overly detailed (not in a good way) story. Why are all the main characters from the USA, specifically Washington, D.C.? Why was an awkward unnecessary love story added? Just no.

The first in a series, but has a concrete ending.

This book is like a 3.5.

My first book by A.G. Riddle, it's pretty good. Full of big ideas, good plot twists, solid interpersonal scenes, characters with discernable texture. But the infodumps - they're without parallel. At one point, two characters literally
Spoilerread half a century of world history from a museum display
and later, another character
Spoilerreads the national history book to fill in the section that had been missing in the museum
. This covered 10s of pages.

I'll probably give book 2 a chance, though I'm probably not going to go back and try out earlier books by the author.

This is a multi-genre novel that encompasses sci-fi, historical fiction, mystery, and thriller. If you like multiverse and timey-wimey stuff…this is for you!

It’s very fast paced for most of the book, there’s a section that gets a little slow, but stick with it.

This is told from multiple points of view and sometimes it’s easy to get lost in the dialogue.

Honestly, I enjoy A.G. Riddle books, but this one fell a little flat to me.
