Zanetti is one of those authors I easily fall into. No matter what she writes I fall in love with the story. She's my comfort author. Whenever I run into a string of not-so-good-books, I pick up a Zanetti novel and all is right again in the world.

The first thing you have to know about Zanetti is that her sex scenes are hot and off the charts. Probably because she makes her characters fit so well together. As much as I admire the action and romance in Zanetti's novel I must confess it's the Easter Eggs in the novels that have me hooked. Taken packed a good punch with a big surprise! THANK YOU Rebecca Zanetti! I don't know how you managed to weave in this Easter Egg, but I want you to know this girl was hollering with joy at 2am. The neighbor's dog joined in the fun too.

Oh, and one finally message to Rebecca Zanetti....PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE I need a book about Wolfe!! Because..."You're pretty. You dating anybody?" has got to be my favorite quote!

I was provided with a complimentary copy of this book, so I could give an honest review.

Hunter and Faye, who were together since they were teens, broke up five years ago after suffering tragedies in their lives. Neither has been really happy since then.

Their former foster mother gets them together again to search for another one of her foster kids who has run away under dangerous circumstances. Jackson just happens to be Hunter's half-brother, whom he didn't know he had.

Hunter and Faye call in Raider, from the Deep-Ops team, to help. Raider was a foster kid with them, and they were all as close as family.

Jackson is on the run in a very bad situation, and there is some good suspense as they try to catch up with him before he gets hurt or gets in too deep. Along the way, Hunter and Faye have to face "us."

Wolfe, Roscoe and Kat make fun appearances from the Deep-Ops series. Even better, a duo from another series make a cameo appearance and are scary/hilarious. Zanetti fans won't want to miss it.

Confession: I am not a fan of novellas and will usually skip them unless it's a favored author/series. Obviously, my adoration for Zanetti far outweighs my indifference to short books. Overall, this is a solid addition to the series. The storyline is fast paced and action packed. I enjoyed seeing all the characters from Deep Ops again. Everything occurs at lightening speed, but I wish there had more time to fully develop Hunter and Faye's storyline. The chemistry seems a little too forced, and the off the pages backstory deters from my usual 4 STARS rating of Zanetti's work.

If you're a fan of the series, give this a read. It has an interesting plot line, and is pertinent to the overall flow of the series. I can't wait for the next, full length installment.

Thank you to NetGalley and Zebra for my advanced review copy!

I didn't realize there were two Novellas for the Deep Ops Series. So I read this book, 1.5 just before book 4. Now I understand the references in Book 3, Wolfe and Dana's story about their first meeting. This also gives some great background on Raider's personality and you are introduced to Miss A. This was a perfect Novella for filling in some holes. Definitely, try to read this one before Books 2 and 3. Let's see if I can get Goodreads to put it in the line up for the Deep Ops book series. In addition, this book is awesome with lots of fast-paced action. Shows how even though at 16 we think we are so grown up, our emotions can be so easily manipulated. Sometimes the love we find in our youth is so much better if we grow a little before it can be truly appreciated. Now, on to the other Novella, Book 2.5, which is in a compilation book Pivot, with other authors Kat Martin and Alexandra Ivy.

Faye Smith and Hunter Holt are former foster children who live together with Miss Avengeline, who has called them back to help find Hunter's half brother, Jackson. One of Jackson's teacher's has convinced him that the only way for them to be happy is on the run, robbing convenience stores to live. Faye and Hunter are soon on their trail along with their other foster brother, Raider, but first they must sort out their priorities.

I don't understand the necessity of writing a story like Taken that is too short to really include much plot or character development. Much of the narrative takes place off page and is then summarized after the fact, leaving the reader feeling cheated. The setup is interesting, revolving around these foster kids who suffered together, but the most of the story seems like a waste of time. Overall, Taken doesn't have enough substance to make it a worthwhile read.

I really love this cast of characters. I wasn't in the right headspace to finish this earlier so had to put it down.

I returned to it today and enjoyed the suspense and danger and them coming together to save Lucas.

I need more Wolfe!!

The Taken novella is a perfect introduction into a little bit of Raider’s past (first introduced in Hidden) but mainly focuses on Holt and Faye – the past love, their present situation, and their future lives.

Holt finds he has a half-brother who has ran away with an older woman. Since he shares the same abusive father, Holt knows what his brother has been through. Knowing that his brother is in a lot of danger, Holt accepts the task of joining Faye to bring him home.

Their present situation brings back a lot of old memories and feelings for each other that they fight at first but slowly let them take over. Holt and Faye are two wonderful characters that we got a short story about that was wrapped up in a bow of happiness at the end. Hooray!
