Tied with Dorian gray for my favorite of the year. This edition of American Gods is definitive in its road trips and explorations of the mystical and ancient influences that echo through America today. My favorite was the computer kid. He showed up so briefly but was so accurate to the situation today even though this book was written when Blackberries were new. Love Shadow’s nickname.

Brilliant, as any Neil Gaiman book that so far has fallen into my hands. I love the way Neil Gaiman puts together a novel I can see has been a huge tour-de-force, a work of so many hours and so many days, and so many months. And this grows even more my admiration for him.
I know I've labelled this as a fantasy but I could easily label it a thriller or a road story because it's both. With fantasy characters fighting each other.
Anyway, it's amazing and if you haven't read it, you should. Go, get the book ;)

Low expectations bc I hated the sound of this book as a mythological fantasy, but incredible book.
Shadow is such a layered protagonist, and his heartbreaking marriage really got me.
How characters all experience death was also an interesting trope.
Overall a fun, entertaining, at points beautiful read even if plot and dialogue were lacking

Interesting plot and fascinating world building, just as you'd expect from Gaiman.
In a world where all the Gods in human history came to America with the people that believed in them. Not only are they alive, roaming the country and socializing with humans, they're also trying to prove their relevance in a war with the new gods of TV, Media, and the Internet. All fighting over our attention, love, and devotion.
