If I had a checklist of things I wanted to see in this book, everything would be marked off. But McGuffin, I mean Maddie, is a bitter pill to swallow. It doesn’t help that the boys’ characters change whenever they’re around her for the sake of furthering the plot. As far as devices go, Maddie was kind of a dud. However, the rhythm of the story, the really great fight scenes, the layout, the art, and the chemistry between Wolverine and Deadpool more than make up for the deficiencies in this book...which are basically the plot and some of the dialogue.

Cute brawl between Deadpool and Old Man Logan over an omega level mutant.

This was a lot of fun, Logan’s weather-beaten grumpiness was a great foil for Wade’s crude amiability, but I wouldn’t recommend it to first-time Deadpool readers. It isn’t the best introduction to the character in his comic book form, it doesn’t provide much depth, and I can see how his humour might wear thin after a while (part of the point is that he annoys everyone) but I still enjoyed this one.

It's honestly better seeing deadpool in a book than on a screen.
