Genre: Dark romance (check tw)
Trope: kidnapper, primal play, Dom/Sub
Format: ereader

Book summary:

Everleigh has joined a gang so that she can gain protection and be closer to her brother. But before she can do that she has a job to do. Arriving at the job everleigh realised that the job has been completed but not by her hand. Find out what happens next.

My thoughts:

The spice in this book was amazing to read it had me flustered through out the book. I loved how there is a twisted that keeps you on your toes and guessing everything. I'd recommend this book if you like dark romance but please check the tw before continuing as there are triggers.

CW: kidnapping, spanking, sexual assault (on page) and rape (reference to and threat of -not by main guy-), murder and death.

I enjoyed this book. It was a quick, easy read and I read it in just a couple of hours. It definitely was an insta-attraction, enemies to lovers as I felt there wasn't much tension or build up before they got together. I really felt sorry for the Female Main Character after everything she'd had to go through. I felt like there could have been more details added overall to the book as I felt that it could get a bit disjointed and was rushed in some places. I felt that the Main Male Character did a 180 in personality at the end which didn't quite match how he'd been beforehand and that led to some disjointedness as it felt like there hadn't been enough of a lead up to this change. I also would have loved to have seen a bit more of a build up to the plot twist BUT it was still a really good plot twist! I also really liked the epilogue as it gave the characters an ending I felt was very much deserved.

Overall, I did enjoy this book and will probably read future books by this author.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Risked it despite the lack of trigger tags on storygraph as I'm a CNC, chase scene dark romance girlie. I figured I'd give it a shot and if I hit one of my icks I'd be able to tag it for others.... I hit my #1 ick. Doesn't seem fair to rate it when the icks are my own, but it immediately ruins a book for me when
there's a surprise pregnancy, especially for a very short term, barely established relationship, and doubly so when she's nauseous but clueless about it.
I understand why the author didn't trigger tag it and
incest, especially incestuous sexual assault
as they're surprise twists in the book, but at least they're on storygraph now.

I knew I would love this book from the warning page alone. And I was not disappointed. If anything, the story exceeded expectations. Wolf was strong and mysterious, but clearly a big softie for Everleigh. I loved her sassiness a lot. But, unfortunately, she wasn’t the brightest. Especially at the end. Although with her knowledge of chipmunks, I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised. The story had lots of twists and turns that kept me frantically turning pages. I felt like secrets were revealed in good time, too. In between the action, there was plenty of steam to keep me riveted. I would most definitely read more stories like this one.

She was given a job for protection, but a wolf got in the way.
He was given a job. He couldn’t go through with it.

He takes her to secluded cabin, she tries to run. He makes her his in the woods.

The story was very spicy, the actual story was a bit fast paced, but all fit together well. I always prefer a longer story, but Aspen did phenomenal as always.

I really loved Wolf and Everleigh.
