I started re-reading the Gossip Girl series this summer, but I needed a bit of a break after reading the first four in pretty quick succession. It was nice to come back to this one though - it was so fun!

I liked that this one had Serena, Blair & Nate interacting for most of the book (they all felt very disconnected in the third and forth book which was partly my reason for needing a break from the series) and Chuck has a bigger role in this one too.

For some reason I could also really imagine the characters as their TV counterparts in this book, more than in any others in the series so far (even though I'm aware this book pre-dates the series by about 5 years) but I loved that & it helped to keep me engaged.

Short & sweet as always - I think I'm back into this series now and I do want to finish it for completeness sake. I think I'll probably pick up these books intermittently from now on as they are a good palette cleanser.

Really enjoyed things turning around for Blair and not going completely Serena's way this time.
Blair deserves some happiness, poor girl.

A definite improvement from the pervious instalment. It was a little slow to get going but once they actually made it to spring break I found things actually moved along at a decent pace. For the most part everyone was....slightly less awful? Or maybe I am just getting used to it now idk but I found them lass annoying to listen to 2.5 stars

Full review with spoilers here

We join our fave Upper East Siders on Spring Break in this book. B has found a new love interest in S's brother Erik, S is dying for attention because everyone is looking at Blair for once, Nate is not enjoying his vacation with his new girlfriend as much as he thought, Jenny's new boyfriend is not who she once thought and Dan is continuing to be a really annoying "artist".

All this and we still do not know if Blair got into Yale - on the bright side though, B didn't seem to be thinking too much about that recently. So that's good.

I hope we hear more about Georgina because I loved her on the TV show. And I'm waiting for the inevitable Dan and Vanessa get back together but so do Blair and Nate storylines. So we keep on reading.

If this book was written in 2021, the author would've been CANCELED. So many weird things..
