This one started slow. I will say, if you picked this up after reading the Deanna Madden trilogy, this book is very different. The author really dialed down the sexuality in this one, which I think was a good choice, but may leave those looking for something very steamy disappointed. (Don't get me wrong, there's still a little steam, but it's not over the top.) I don't think I actually liked any of the characters except maybe Matt, but they were engaging enough. Think less warm and fuzzy children's book and more Real Housewives with a sinister twist. While this book is short, the first 2/3rds are mostly build-up. While I saw the end coming, it was still a satisfying conclusion.

Cat has almost everything she wanted and is in a happy marriage to William. Neena is married to Matt, but has her eyes set on William.

The story is told primarily through Cat’s and Neena’s perspectives. It’s primarily linear, although there’s a bit of going forward and back in time.

This book really held my attention. I thought it was very well written. It wasn’t shocking what Neena was trying to do and I wouldn’t say there were any absolutely huge twists but there were some surprises that I didn’t expect.

It’s a bit frustrating to have to read William falling for Neena’s tricks. However, the end demonstrates that it was intentional to get a rise out of Cat and I think that is a better story than William being stupid.
