The end was such an anticlimax. Besides that, I had a good time reading this book

A mother’s desire to find out what happened to her daughter drives the story in THE FAMILIAR DARK. Junie was murdered in their small town and Eve, her mother, is determined to find her killer. As Eve investigates further, she may dig up secrets in the the town that weren’t meant to see the light of day.⠀

This was a good story with a predictable twist. The writer really dives into the socioeconomic struggles that the characters have, which is eye-opening. It’s dark, gritty, and disturbing. Overall, a good read.

Who here loves a good can't-put-it-down thriller?

A mom gets the dreaded call, her daughter has been killed at a park. The only real piece of happiness she has in a life of misery. Her daughter and her brother being the only family she considers she has. She can't imagine life in a world without her daughter and she knows everyone in her town are corrupt, lazy, and worthless. She decides finding her daughters killer is her new life goal and the only way she can continue moving forward. But can she live with the things she finds and will the things she does be worth it. Personally I hated this whole dame town of crappy people, but I understood everything this mother did and her point of view. I found her strength to be heartfelt and despite the secrets she uncovered that ending was chef's kiss.
