I enjoyed this book. I love historical romances, but that is not why I liked this book. In fact, in order to enjoy the book I had to let that go. What I like about historical novels -- good ones -- is being immersed in a different time and place, losing myself into a whole new world while learning a little bit about that time. I won't say there were glaring inaccuracies in this novel because I am not a historian so wouldn't know the facts. However, I have read enough historical books to know that the speech patterns were too 20th century; just throwing in a few "m'Lord, m'Lady" doesn't make it historical. So what I did was think of the book as something set during some generic time in some generic place. This freed me up from being side-tracked by things that didn't seem "right".

Once I did that I thoroughly enjoyed the story. It was fun, mostly light-hearted but still with enough emotional content to be substantial, and I cared enough about all the characters to be invested in how the story progressed and what happened to them. I will add Teresa Medeiros to my list of authors to read.

This was fine. There was humor and of course there was romance. The heroine had to win over a family of children as well as her hero. I think this was my first romance by this author and I will read another at some point.

Great fairy tale re-telling of Prince Charming. The author had me crying just in the first few pages (my heart broke for Willow). And I totally knew something was up with Bannor. I was so glad to finally learn the truth!
This book was sweet, sexy and in some parts, really, really funny. It was also very emotional, especially when Bannor and his son finally talked. I loved the side romance with Beatrix and...well, I won't spoil it! ;)

I highly recommend this book for anyone who likes a good farity tale retelling with a lot of heart & emotion. I can't wait to read the second in the series, a retelling of Beauty & the Beast!

Some blush worthy scenes in this medieval romance. A little more hot and heavy than I anticipated.

A great novel, if you like historical. Lovely secondary characters, but mostly wonderful main characters. Willow and Bannor is perfect for each other even if they don't know it.
It is a sweet and funny tale about how to learn to trust and that it is not always blood that defines a family.

On the down side, there were some things that annoyed me.
Both Willow and Bannor were making me mad with how stupid they were and how they were incapable of actually talking to each other, even after they get together. I would like think that communication was the key even in the dark ages... And I could not stomach how Willow so easily put her trust in her stepsister. We did learn early on in the book that she really disliked her and that the stepsister was a vain egocentric bitch.
I also didn't care for Bannor in the beginning as he was weak and had no backbone what so ever. He got better as the story unfolds, but it took time. I hated the prank-parts of the books, especially when it turns to full out war of childishness.

Out of context those pranks were funny and made me chuckle. I did how ever enjoy this book a lot and would really recommend it as a relaxing read.

There were parts of this that were really sweet and fun, but overall it fell short of my expectations. It was a Cinderella retelling, which was fun. But the romance felt weak and so did the story at different points. Mostly the kids and Netta were the bright spot. Bannor was difficult to love
