the formatting of this book perfectly showcases how billy must have felt constantly reliving experienced and feeling unstuck from time;this indirect depiction of ptsd is amazing. while reading i was constantly reminded of the national veteran art gallery and the things they carried. the vulnerability in all of these works are extremely moving. i think it would be interesting to look into the relationship between earthling and civilians and the Tralfamadorians and the german. my main thing supporting the second one is how they have similar philosophy’s presented in the book (why me? why anyone?), and how billy is trapped by both; one in a zoo and the other as a POW.

Awesome book over all I think and a great intro to a wonderful author. On to Hugh Howey's take on the world in Peace in Amber. I think I would like to read the Sirens of Titan soon too.
In all honesty, I really liked the way this book was written with all the flash backs and such. I really enjoyed the characters and how sci fi it really was for its time.

I probably could carry on since it’s a short book but I cba. I’m not drawn in and I’d rather spend my time reading something else

I’m learning that I have to approach Kurt Vonnegut a little slowly and more reflectively. When I read his book quickly and just follow the surface level plot, there’s not much to it except some gentle absurdism.
This time I took a little time to read a few summaries and analyses and re-read some sections of the book, and appreciated it much more as a result.
