Though I loved the series and the world building between them, this book didn’t quite capture my heart in the way I thought it would. The pacing was quite slow so it was hard to remain captivated. Definitely a cute book with some really GREAT quotes but not a five star for me!
My favorite part: The romance between Iris and Kitt.

However, the pacing of the story can feel a bit uneven at times, with some sections feeling rushed while others drag.
Overall, Ruthless Vows is a satisfying conclusion to a captivating series. Fans of fantasy romance will appreciate its blend of action, intrigue, and heartfelt emotion

They say some things are better as a pair... and that, my friend, is very much the case with this duology. The way these wove together and how the second tied up loose ends (even the tiny details) from the first was just...chef's kiss. 10/10 recommend!

In my opinion, the 2nd contained significantly less cringeworthy parts, partly the reason for the higher rating.

This sequel picks back up in Oath. Iris is now back in the city with Forest and Roman is MIA. However we soon learn that he had been “saved” by Dacre and had his memories erased. Dacre has made him correspondent for his side of the war. Once his first article is published in the Oath Gazette, Iris is dead set on getting him back. She and her friends break into the museum to steal the magical typewriter since hers was left behind in Avalon Bluff. When they successfully complete the heist she starts writing to a very confused Roman under her middle initial, E. My favorite part of this book was when Roman’s memories start slowly coming back to him through the letters and dreams and ultimately are completely restored when he sees and touches Iris for the first time
