Cute little story! I'm not usually a fan of the whole fable-y writing style, but this was over before it could bother me too much. It was a unique take on the whole "cursed after not helping a disguised witch" trope.

I'd forgotten that I read this one well before Mr. Penumbra's! I read it again & liked it just as much the 2nd time as the 1st.

Mr. Sloan makes you think and rethink what you think every time you read one of his books. Though a short story, this is no different. Well worth the time to sit back and enjoy!

A very good, very quick read that you can find on Sloan's website for free.

Definitely check it out, a interesting take on a fairy tale.

A combination a fairytale and Aesop Fable, but with a twist. It's a very short story, so there's not much that can be said of it without spoiling the entire thing, but it is a meditation on how time smooths out your rough edges like the river on a rocky bank. Someone who was previously selfish can become the pillar of a community, reconciliation is possible. And the willingness to act when the time calls for it remains one of the most important things.
