This was super fun albeit weird at times. I liked the writing and the story itself was compelling. I'm not the biggest fan of how some relationships developed. But overall, this is a super fun, fast, funny read.

Spoiler-free Review:
This book follows Summer as she is sentenced to attend Evermore Academy for four years. This is a fae series with the classic division of fae courts. It has some popular tropes like "Mates", and "Enemies to Lovers". Evermore Academy is comprised of Evermore (fae) who are there to master their abilities, and humans who are training to be the Shadow Warrior protectors of the Evermore. There is a selection at the start of school where every Shadow Warrior is claimed by an Evermore. Enter the Winter Prince, who does not share his name with anyone because names hold power in this society. He is the heir to the Winter court and is attempting to claim Summer as his Shadow Warrior.

Each book in this series covers a year of school at this academy. They are also all named after a season because seasons take a full year to pass in this world, not three months like in reality.

There are great friendship and mentor dynamics in this book. The romance and soulmate-esqe themes were also really good. This series reminded me a lot of Vampire Academy and ACOTAR. I do love that Summer is a fairly empowered character in general and how she handles situations. This book set up really great groundwork for the rest of the series.

Cross between Fallen and The Cruel Prince
A lot of cliches and not anything I haven’t seen before but who doesn’t love a good fae story with an enemies to lover romance. Fast read and entertaining story.

Eh what can I say, it was a book? I found the writing very juvenile, especially in the beginning. I feel like the author found their footing later in the book, though. It was pretty predictable, but overall not an awful read. It was fun. Not sure if I'll be picking up the rest of the series.

My first thought when I started this book was... it has a ACOTAR flavor to it. It slowly moved away from this and held it's own with regards to the storyline. I like my books a little more NA vs YA but hey, with a name like Evermore Academy you get what you ask for. True YA content and romance development with some predictable story plot towards the end. It definitely held my interest though and I'll be finishing the series when they are all published.

Definitely a good find for Sarah J. Mass fans as well as Lauren Kate

Very enjoyable

A great addition to this authors extensive portfolio - fantasy, a touch dystopian and fully paranormal. It twists and weaves, producing a story that seems to stretch back years, though it’s only now coming to light for the FMC.

I don't know why it took me so long to read this book but I am mad at myself for waiting. This was such a wonderful story and my heart was pounding so hard throughout it, especially at that ending! This is an enemies to lovers story but it's different from the bulk of the stories out there.

Summer is such a great character, she is strong and refuses to let the Fae torture her but she is still human so she still deals with doubts and I think that is wonderful. She gets dealt with a lot of crap throughout the book, these Fae are not the nicest and I think that's really fun! The Winter Prince is the type of Fae we all love, broody but he is also a jerk. I love the interactions between Summer and the Prince. There is also Ruby who is a hilarious drunk sprite and I want to see more of her in the future. Summer has some fun human friends, Mack being the main friend is a great addition and she is so accepting of Summer right from the beginning.

This is just a great story and has wonderful writing. The characters are so fun and I can't wait to read the second book!

felt like a mix between vampire academy and a court of thorns and roses, but i’m not complaining
