Initial Response
AGGH THIS WAS SO HILARIOUS. XD

High Lights
- Doreen is such a great main character. She's just a spunky girl, trying to fit in at middle school. And also fight bad guys and save the 'hood. I feel like she is starting to mature a bit, being more responsible, still making mistakes, but remedying them and making things right. Also she's stinkin' hilarious. XD
- I loved that Ana Sofia got a bigger part in this book than in the first! She's such a unique character and her and Doreen are basically the most epic duo ever.
- The plot was so COOL. Right away, you could tell, something's not quite right with the new mall construction.
Spoiler And it is most definitely NOT OKAY. Hydra mall. Who would have thought?
The chat forums for the mall are hilarious, mostly because everyone on them is ridiculously oblivious.
- All the squirrels and their chitterspeak is just awesome. I want an army of squirrels guys.
- I love all of the texting and forum formats in the book! All of the text messaging with the Avengers (arguably the best part XD), the Baddit forums, the Friendbook forums, they're all spot on.
- THE VILLAINS.
Spoiler Yes, villains. Dog-Lord, Mistress Meow, and finally Lizard Brain, who is absolutely hilarious, like actually. Is he even a villain? Is he even real? I laughed so hard guys. XD

- Dennis is just great. Read the book and you'll know why.
- I was pretty much smiling the whole time.

Low Lights
- Um...None? I really can't think of any. This is just a flat-out hilarious book.

Conclusion
IT'S SO FUNNY. If you're a Marvel fan and you want to laugh, just do yourself a favor and read this series. Seriously, you won't regret it.

I really enjoyed this for what it was -a middle school superhero romp with appealing characters that nodded all over the place at the larger Marvel universe in cute ways, while talking about themes of inclusion, talking to friends about feelings, and how evil accomplishes evil by trying to sow hate and discord. It was smart and funny and fluffy like a squirrel's tale, but with real heart. It was even enjoyable to read aloud, despite the texting sections (probably best if your read-aloud partner is able to read along over your shoulder during those parts, it added some clarity). I also appreciated that the book took time to address Ana Sofia's hearing consistently and throughout in ways that will help young readers become more aware of her experience in the world that assumes everyone can hear - and in the process, they may become more aware of inclusive language and behaviors. I look forward to going back and reading the first one!

The answer to "where was the greatest Marvel superhero during Infinity War?" is here. Plus the answer to the equally important question which of the nine Worlds of Norse mythology has the best socks? As the other question, what to do when evil supervillains open a shopping mall in your town, your teacher hates you, you've hurt your best human friends feelings and you really want to solve problems by not just punching good.

Rollicking. Relevant. Relatable.

One of the two best junior fiction novels ever written about squirrel powered superheros named Doreen.

Delightfully goofy fun. With some sincere moments about friendship, and believe it or not, information literacy. Good stuff!

The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl: 2 Fuzzy, 2 Furious by Shannon and Dean Hale is the second Squirrel Girl prose novel, following on from the setting and characters established in the first book, Squirrel Meets World. That said, 2 Fuzzy, 2 Furious stands alone fairy well and does not require having read the earlier book to be enjoyed.

Much as expected, this book was fun, light-hearted and humorous. It revisits middle school-aged Squirrel Girl/Doreen Green along with her best human and squirrel friends, Anna Sofia and Tippy Toe, respectively. While Doreen and Anna Sofia navigate friendship and middle school, something strange and probably evil is brewing in their town. Will they realise in time to put a stop to it before it gets out of hand? And now many Squirrel Girl commentary foot notes can be squeezed into one book? (94. The answer is 94.)

I enjoyed 2 Fuzzy, 2 Furious a lot, although I think slightly less than I enjoyed the first book in the series. I'm not sure whether that's to do with actual differences in tone/voice etc or just a difference in my mood when each book was read. That said, I did feel there was a difference in Tippy Toe's voice with its idiosyncrasies being toned down a bit in 2 Fuzzy, 2 Furious compared with Squirrel Meets World. I don't think this is a bad thing though, since it's now a bit more accessible.

Overall this book was strong on the power of friendship and being nice to people, with a few amusing attempts at peaceful conflict resolution on Squirrel Girl's part. I would definitely not hesitate to give it to young children (although Australian and other non-US children would probably require an explanation as to what middle school is). I enjoyed it a lot and I will definitely be reading any more Squirrel Girl books the Hales write.
