The story started off decently from the main character's point of view and then we jump right into the action. Kaylyn, the protagonist, is a dysfunctional character but understandably so which makes her relatable. I enjoyed all the characters I encountered, especially Jonah who was a resolute and steadfast character, even when it wasn't deserved which I loved about him. I felt the same with Cole, she was an excellent sister but not too perfect. I like that despite clashing personalities they all learned to get along with each other. I'd personally would like to see more individual character depth with the characters as we go on.
I felt that the story was a little slow in its pace to be considered thriller for me. It was definitely more paranormal, mystery, with a dash of horror. I didn't find myself bored at all, in fact, I found myself hitting the climax of the story quicker than I anticipated which is always a good thing. It actually helped cheer up my day as I was only planning on reading a little because I was tired but ended up having to finish it because I was so involved.
The writing was good and I enjoyed the story. It was an enticing read and the climax had me riveted until I finished the book. While I don't feel that the character's developed much, they did learn some surprising things which is later discussed in the sequel. You'll just have to read it to find out! It's free for a limited time so grab it now! *points above*
Overall, a good start to a paranormal investigator series! Highly recommended if you like paranormal situations mixed with mystery!
3.3 out of 5 rating for me!

Despite grammatical errors and cheesy names, the storyline of this book was fast paced and eerie. I'm grateful it wasn't another supernatural romance, though there are inklings of a stirring romance between two of the characters...

I would have given this book 5 stars but there were a few grammatical errors that bothered me.
The story is great. Can see it being something that happens in real time. Just enough plot twist to make it all interesting. An almost romance that makes you hope for one in the next book

I got this book free on my nook from those email bargains I subscribe to. Despite quite a few typos I really enjoyed the story and will likely read the next of the series!

Hold on to the edge of your seat because you're in for a wild ride!

Callahan's debut novel FRACTURED LEGACY dives right into a world where ghosts, poltergeists and the unknown is completely normal for paranormal investigators Kaylyn and Cole Anderson. Something clearly is trying to mess with Kaylyn and things don't get easier when the agency the sisters work for, Aicil, gets a shakedown from higher up and the girls get a new boss, Jonah. Will the entity trying to take over Kaylyn consume her or can they figure out what is happening before it is too late?
Callahan uses fantastic imagery to set you up in places like the creepy, abandoned Teague Hotel and the stark, bare setting of Jonah's apartment.
This is a fast-paced read. Very enjoyable! I'm a self-proclaimed slow reader and I finished this one pretty quick. It is gripping. I love the characters and mystery of the Teague Hotel! This is a great book to read near Halloween.
The reader jumps into this universe, into Kaylyn's crazy life without much explanation, but soon enough everything is understandable. Although, I admit I would have appreciated more exposition.
Though very well developed, I kind of thought the main characters needed more dimensions. Kaylyn is overly stubborn and private, Cole is the caring sister and Jonah is strict and by-the-book. I thought Jonah is the most developed of all the characters and enjoyed him the most. I admit, like others I enjoyed the growing relationship between Kaylyn and Jonah. Although I don't ship them now, I could see myself being completely devoured by them in later books.
This novel reminds me a lot of the TV show Warehouse 13; I would be lying if I said I wasn't imaging the actors as these characters.
This is only the first book in the series and there are clearly more questions and adventures to be had a Aicil. I am totally looking forward to reading more by Skye Callahan.

Interesting story, but there was a major lack of details. And the whole book felt like a lead up to a series. I hope that other books follow, because the premise is interesting.
