I’m sure I have read this before, at some point in my life. It was still quite a random surprise reading it now.

Re-read
It can be tricky to review these classics when you grew up reading them: on the one hand, they are a source of nostalgic joy for me; on the other, sometimes looking at the story through a modern lens makes one pause.
There appears to be an element of fat shaming here, as the story makes it clear that being fat is not desirable. Should the story get a free pass, just because it was written in a different time? Honestly, that's up to you. You could easily explain to the young audience you are reading to, that being fat and being greedy are different things: although Mr. Greedy ceases to be fat at the end of the story when he stops being greedy, this does not mean all fat people are greedy.
Also the last line of the book is so absurd that I can't help but to smile.

And so it came to pass that I had for the space of one weekend the box set of all the Mr Men books, and it was time to try and fill in all the gaps in an odyssey of epic proportions, so if you are Mr Men phobic you might want to look away from these reviews for a while.
Because of one of my rules of reading, that is not reading the same author twice in a row, there will be a whole lot of other short books as well, this is truly a reading marathon.
Anyway Mr Greedy, good stuff from Hargreaves here, the only quibble I have with not just this one, but others is he seems to correct himself, but then when he appears in other books he is back to the old way he was. Anyway a good fun story.
