Angus Force--a former FBI profiler--has been the leader of a misfit group of top secret agents, Deep Ops, for four books now. He's been an alcoholic and eccentric, with a dog who drinks alcohol and wears women's shoes. In this book he becomes a sexy hero.

Angus and Nari, the psychologist of the group, have been dancing around their attraction. When the supposedly dead serial killer that Angus has been hunting for for six years seems to come back, Nari and Angus are thrown together. Women are being murdered in Lassiter's style, and they resemble the women on Angus's team, including Nari.

In this book the Deep Ops team goes through a cataclysmic change, but I won't spoil it here. There is danger for Angus and Nari at every turn, and they can't trust anyone outside of their team. Angus gets into a world of trouble. The book is fast-paced and will keep you up reading long past your bedtime.

Highly recommended.

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher, but this is an honest review.

This is hands down my favorite book of the series, and likely my all time favorite from Zanetti to date. The chemistry between Angus and Nari had been a slow, torturous burn over the last three books, and their explosion did not disappoint. In addition to the intense romance, there was also an engaging suspense that kept me riveted. I loved seeing previous characters, mingled with new ones. Fingers crossed Jethro is the next book, but I will be reading more regardless.

Bravo, Ms. Zanetti!

I would only recommend this book/series to other romance readers who have watched every single Fast and Furious movie, including Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw.

This action plot of this book got me hooked, I needed to know what happened since it was set up since Book 1! It’s like those crime-action-procedural where each book had a “case of the week,” and then there’s an overarching case going on through the whole season, which finally gets resolved in the season finale. This one, Book 4, was the finale.

I was looking for romance books with East Asian characters which is how I even ended up finding this series; this book was the one I was actually looking forward to.

I could have skipped Book 2, which also had an East Asian character, though not much was done with that other than he had nice dark hair. I skipped Book 3.

Book 4 FINALLY has Angus and Nari hooking up after tension built up throughout the series. I liked the description of Nari and her dark eyes - usually romance is about green/blue/hazel eyes, and I liked this description of her in that style.

The action was nonstop and ridiculous, and luckily the pace is so fast that you don’t have time to think about it!

The found family theme is very sweet.

Everyone has concussions all the time.

I feel to give justice to this book I need to go back and read the other three. I found this book hard to follow as a stand alone.

CW: gun violence, violence, murder

I thoroughly loved Angus and Nari dancing around each other and their book was no less enjoyable. The mystery keeps you on your toes, as well as all the intrigue surrounding their agency. This is a solid addition to the series.

Angus and Nari finally get their story. I listened to the audiobook, and it was hard to stop listening and go to work. There are many audiobooks that I can listen to and work, but not this Deep Ops series. I only listened to this before work, after work, and into the wee hours of the morning.

I loved that the team would ask Angus if he was sure Lassiter was really alive, but they never doubted him. All the strange, unusual, and quirky members of Angus' team, along with Roscoe and Kat made this book so entertaining. I also liked the fact that they were intelligent, insightful, and empathetic.

This was not a completely lighthearted read. A lot of the interaction between the team was sweet, with humorous moments, showing a sense of family. But, it was also full of action, suspense, danger, and violence. There was this a psychological edge to it. There were a number of hold your breath moments. Lassiter was definitely a psycho and some of the crime scenes were very descriptive.

I really appreciated that Nari could fight. I was kind of surprised she didn't take more precautions in regard to her safety. I liked that Angus felt so protective. The author also provided a nice romance and several steamy scenes.

The last few chapters of the book were riveting. They were also full of surprises. I really did not expect that ending.

I thought the narrator did a great job capturing each team members personality. I did enjoy listening to him. There are still a couple of characters who haven't gotten their books. I really hope they do.
