It’s taken me a while to write a review.

Let me start by saying this book is more than a book. It’s an important social issue. This books handles the subject matter in a very classy way. As someone who is pro-choice this book broke my heart. Someone who is needing an abortion being denied those rights and having to take dangerous measures to try to obtain one. This is a book that should be a right or passage. I will forever hold this book close to my heart.

To be living in a world in 2019 where girls are still faced with this issue angers me. Its disgusting that men get to make the choice of what a woman does with her own body. This could be quite a controversial subject with everyone having their own opinions but it certainly doesn’t take away from the story and what Camille has to deal with just to make the decision she has. To make such a decision is a hard enough one without facing obstacles like that.

Devastating. This chronicles the story of what many people may go through. Discovering they are pregnant but have little to no options to deal with it. It was visceral. We need this book - we need to have this conversation that abortion is healthcare.

Camille, an aspiring actress, is excited to spend her summer at a prestigious drama camp. But when she finds out she is pregnant, she is horrified. Together with her best friend Bea (whose family is pro-life) and Annabelle (a new friend who is pro-choice), they make the trek from Texas to New Mexico.

An emotional and realistic depiction of what some women face when getting an abortion. Very powerful testament to the important of friendships in difficult situations. I think that the information provided was well-researched, but it was not heavy-handed.

There are few times I’ve actually teared up while reading a book but
the letter that Camille wrote to the soul that she aborted made me cry. This book really made me think. Abortion is one of those issues that I wrestle with constantly in my mind and hearing this perspective makes me wrestle with it even more. Paris Hilton wrote about it in her book and she said not to judge a woman who chooses abortion unless you’ve been in their shoes and that’s what I usually go back to. I loved that the main three characters in this book were diverse in their way of thinking about abortion. Bea had to wrestle with going against everything she believes in and being a good friend. I think she - like me - would like to apologize for those religious people that tries to enforce shame and guilt onto others. I flew through this book and I’m so glad I read it.
