Sooo really and truly it's 3.5 stars. Very mixed opinions on this one. I did enjoy it and I thought it was cute, especially for the summer, but I just didn’t enjoy it as much as I thought I would. Cliche galore! Every trope you can think of was in here. I would say that it’s worth checking out, cause I did have fun reading it!

At first I was off put by the fact the love interest was the main character’s twin sister’s brother-in-law — would this family tree become a circle?

Luckily, the brother turned out to be a complete and utter douchebag so I didn’t have to worry about the dynamics of two brothers dating a pair of twin sisters.

As much as I love an enemies to lovers plot line, this one was just plain annoying. The basis of the main characters’ hatred was milquetoast at best, and for the first half of the book, I felt like I was reading the same remixed sentences over and over. Olive finds something Ethan said charming or attractive, but wait! She can’t think that way because she is supposed to hate him. I did not feel much tension between these two characters for the thought process to repeat itself so many times. Furthermore, Olive’s overwhelming distaste for Ethan was just at points unrealistic and ridiculous, especially when she would put it above enjoying herself on a free trip to Hawaii. I also thought the author was too coy with the sex between the characters — either write the spice or just move on without lingering on the fact two characters had sex.

While I have my complains about the book, I thought the dialogue was humorous and that there were enough believable friendship-building moments to surmount in the love between Ethan and Olive. The final act of the book seemed a bit out of left field, but I didn’t mind the refocusing of family and a true tense moment between the main characters — it added the realism lacking in their honeymoon phase relationship.

There are some books I read to get me back in the motion of reading on my kobo. The Unhoneymooners was one of those. Great plane and airport read. Also, a great I-am-doing-a-five-day-quarantine-in-a-hotel-and-cannot-leave-the-room-so-a-book-about-enemies-to-lovers-on-a-fake-honeymoon-shall-suffice read. :) Overall, happy.

This is a solid 4.5⭐️ for me. It had some of my favorite tropes….

Fake marriage
One bed
Sunshine/grumpy
Witty Banter
Enemies to lovers

I could have used more spice and at the end I would’ve loved more resolution to that big moment that almost pushed our main characters apart. But all in all this was a cute, sexy, fun and funny story. Olive is an absolute dream and her chemistry with Ethan is off the charts. I also appreciate that Olive had a lot of personal growth and it wasn’t all about her relationship. She really learned to value and love herself and break out of her self defeating patterns. I loved it!

This is maybe a perfect romance. I love it even more the second time around. I am extremely annoyed that no one believed Olive about Dane. It made me so mad that she was by herself. The rest of the book was good though, minus the whole Dane drama that just pissed me off. I love Ethan (mostly) and I love how he treats Olive. This book is so good to get you out of a reading slump or to read when you're sad and need to fill the void. Highly recommend.

The storyline was cute, and I loved the spanish phrases and traditions thrown in. Still pretty skeptical of enemies to lovers, but I enjoyed reading through this one and seeing how the main character grows from it. This is my first Christina Lauren book so I’m interested to see how i like her other ones.

damn. this was cute, i read this book because honestly at this point i’m just holding out for summer and i got a week of school left which honestly has me contemplating the pros and cons of immediate death but i digress. it was a really cute rom-com, olive is funny and sarcastic and a lot like callie torres from greys anatomy tbh, ethan is also charming and witty and i really enjoyed the romance and also ami reminds me a lot of myself so i liked her, the miscommunication thing was not my favorite as i don’t like that trope but the book was still really good, not life changing or anything but i’d still recommend.
