"I" normally just give my rating in stars and add a book to my read list, but this book deserves more. If I had a list of non-religious but sacred texts this book would be on it. This is my third read, and I get something more from it each and every time. The one message I get from this Promethean tale is that while it is all well and good to work for the benefit of society, when you give up your individuality, or worse, force others to give up theirs, you are giving up the very thing that gives life value. Bravo Ms. Rand, for a story that is just as timely now as it was when first published, over 75 years ago!

Quick and easy read, at first the story seemed a bit far fetched but it quickly turns into a tale of freedom and individual thought proving that nature really can be stronger than nurture when it comes to evolution

"Now I look ahead. My future is clear before me. The Saint of the pyre had seen the future when he chose me as his heir, as the heir of all the saints and all the martyrs who came before him and who died for the same cause, for the same word, no matter what name they gave to their cause and their truth."

This was probably the most hopeful and purposeful dystopian book I've read so far, the style is definitely philosophical and needs undivided attention to its details.

Ayn Rand's objectivism really shows and proves itself to be one of the most beautiful philosophical concepts even to this day. If you're like me and don't want to commit to reading 1000 pages of Atlas Shrugged then definitely give this a read!

After spending the entire book fetishizing rugged individualism and extolling the importance of not letting anyone think for you, the first thing the narrator does after escaping is tell the woman what he has decided her name will be. Sigh.
