I think this suffered from second-book syndrome and felt a bit like filler. I appreciate starting to get some backstory on some of the characters, but I also think the trauma for Baz is a bit excessive and some of it needs to come with a trigger warning.

THAT CLIFFHANGER!! So glad I have the next book ready to go.
This book felt a little slower, and we didn’t get as many answers as I would have like BUUUUUT hoo boy, the glimpses into backstories we see are intense.
Baz is such a broken sweetheart, and my heart breaks for what he’s been through (definitely recommend people check content warnings). His relationship with Stevie is definitely a highlight of this book, although I feel like it kind of happened and then disappeared for a bit. Either way, keen to see more and how her relationships with all the guys develop.

This series has been way more slow burn than I expected, but honestly the banter and flirting makes up for it. I assume things will get a little steamier in future books.
