This is. 3.5 stars read.
It’s very middle-grade and there’s not much to criticize about it since it’s not meant to have a controversial plot — especially because it’s a modern retelling of one of the best classics, Little Women.

It was a cute time and it was basically little woman but without Beth's death and without the romance of Amy and Laurie. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great. It was just a nice average read.

This was such a heartwarming, cute book. Their JAMB 'zine club inspired me to start my own family magazine as well. It's going well so far and the new magazine also led to me writing a book. It will be in the family magazine and I'm very excited for it!
My favorite character was Jo because I'm in so many ways like her. I love to read and write just like her and I dress quite casual most days. I'm not at all involved or interested in romance-y, mushy stuff, haha!
Their hobbies like painting, reading, writing, baking, cooking, and playing piano inspired me to keep up with my own hobbies which are very similar to the March sisters'.
Jo's comfy, cozy attic reading and writing room inspired me to make my own area to have fun and be comfortable and just a safe spot to hide away for a bit. Hide away and get lost in a good book or write stories and poems for hours on end.
So overall, amazing book. Extremely heartwarming and VERY inspiring. I've already grown so much from reading this book and I hope to continue the things I am doing which this book inspired. Thanks, Laura.

This is a charming little retelling of Little Women where the author made the girls a bit younger and told only one year of their lives, from Christmas to Christmas. It's perfectly updated to modern times with Mr. March being away for a stint with the National Guard and Mrs. March working at a local Community Center. Jo writes scripts for home movies and the girls write a monthly 'zine. You still have the girls learning to navigate their world with kindness and passion. They learn to be better sisters, better daughters, and better friends. They learn to control their tempers and think for themselves. It's a big year of growth for them and it's a very enjoyable read. I loved that every chapter began with a quote from one of Jo's beloved books. Some of her favorites are my favorites too. I also enjoyed the recipes and craft ideas and such that was sprinkled throughout the book. Any young reader of this book will LOVE to follow them and translate from the book to real life.
