What a lovely book but I do wish there was more / another one.

Not as good as the first one. The pacing seemed all over the place and I didn’t like one of the POV characters, which is a shame because I wanted to. Still glad I read it and I like the world and most of the characters.

I so wanted to like this a lot. I'd enjoyed the first book enough to want to see how the story ended - but sadly the gorgeous cover art is the best thing about it. It really, really needed a better editor - because there were a lot of good ideas and interesting characters, but nothing really hangs together, everything's too easy, there's no real sense of long stretches of time passing, there's little character development, and overall I found it confusing. I finished reading a few weeks ago and I'd honestly struggle to tell you the plot. It does have quite a satisfying ending though, which is a definite plus point.

Sigh... I'm not sure how I feel? I love all these characters and it was great to be back in this world but also so many things just did not make sense?! The ending felt rushed and whilst the final chapter was adorable, it ended on a cliffhanger? This is the final book in the series? What? I'm so confused...

It wasn't bad, it just wasn't good. I don't regret reading it but will I pick it up again? probably not
Everything was just so meh - the characters, the final fight, the logic behind everyone's actions, even the (in theory) cool non-binary character felt a bit fake? idk
I did like all the representation tho, that was nice

I found this a little bit of a let down. I really enjoyed the first book, and this felt like a haphazard conclusion. For the first time I think it should have been split into two? We could have had more journey, and the parts with Ash could have carried more gravitas. And then the final book could have been the epic fight. Instead we got a rushed fight with almost no detail, and some new parts that didn’t seem to add much to the story. It felt rushed and condensed :(
