Actual rating 4.5. Kind of felt like the trial part was recycled from To Kill a Mockingbird and wasn’t super interested in it. But I did like that the ending was ambiguous-not-so-ambiguous. Sometimes it’s nice to not know all of the answers.

I don’t know why it took me so long to read this book. But, oh my goodness it was so good, just like all the reviews. I couldn’t put it down.

Kya’s life was so misunderstood, but so intriguing if someone would just notice. I absolutely suggest reading this book if you haven’t already!

Loved it. Can't give it five stars. The beginning for me was slow. It took me 100 plus pages to get into it. A lot of the writing was really detailed, which in the end I could appreciate, but in the beginning It just made the story drag and some chapters just didn't even seem relevant. Great read.

Really liked this book. It had a slow start which made it difficult to get into at first but in total it was a beautifully written book with a nice ? eventhough rather sad story.

"Tate's devotion eventually convinced her that human love is more than the bizarre mating competitions of the marsh creatures, but life also taught her that ancient genes for survival still persist in some undesirable forms among the twists and turns of man's genetic code. For Kya, it was enough to be part of this natural sequence as sure as the tides."

One of my only DNFs. Just could not get into it.
