Cheesy, very ‘teen-y’, felt like twilight retelling but more fun. I really liked the characters EXCEPT for the main character, she’s my only problem. I have this feeling that the story will get better!

I enjoyed the book, although found the female main character to be a bit obnoxious at times. However, I read the other books in the series and overall, I'd read more from the author if I was looking for lighthearted, paranormal books with a mix of plot and romance.

Holy Fates!!! This may be my newest obsession!!! Lochlan is super yummy, and he and Kenna have such an awesome bond!! This is definitely going on my favorites list!!! The characters, all of them, are so well written!!! I was so invested in this story that I had a hard time putting it down to take turns with the other books I was reading. Vampires, Werewolves, Witches…oh my!!! A Paranormal Romance worth reading, with lots of twists and turns!!! I am so excited to move on to book two!

Huge shoutout to the author for the chance to read this baby early!!

Shadow Touched is written in first person POV which I don't usually prefer in (especially not in my romance) but Becky does an excellent job of keeping the reader informed but also seeking answers in the same way Kenna Belmont, the main character, does. Kenna leads us through moving to a new town after spending most of her life always going some place new. When she arrives in Maine however she becomes fast friends with Isla, with some natural reservations at first. She also gains the attention of some of the most yummy male characters I have had the privilege of reading in recent months. Naturally they are each a mess but Lochlan and Kade do not disappoint, and I guess you can include Reid if you want to.

The beginning of the book pays serious tribute to Twilight. Almost so much that you think it is just going to be another retelling of the same story. HOWEVER! That is not what actually happened. All of a sudden the story changes and shifts from YA to the steamy delicious side of NA (definitely some great reading to be done here. lol) After this point the story takes on a life of it's own. While still about vampires and werewolves you get a rich and unique storyline that is as enthralling as the characters who led us to this point. While not all of the answers are given, and there are definitely some Easter eggs about further confusion and resolution that I'm excited to see, it was a worthwhile ride of chaos and wtf moments.

I absolutely adored this read. I was at first worried it was going to be more upper YA and less NA. I am so very glad I was wrong. While it is a little slow at first, don't quit! It gets better and then even better in the last like 10% of the book. I can't tell you how many times I wanted to throw the book. Not the least of which was at the end when the cliffhanger left my mouth gaping. How could you Becky! lol

Please definitely give this series a shot. If you want to dive into an old story vibe with new takes and intriguing swoony male characters, this is for you. You will not regret your choice.. well at least not after the next book is written and you don't have to hang on the cliff like the rest of us. lol

◦ I've received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review ◦

The book begins with the main character, Kenna, that once again has moved across the state together with her secretive aunt to a very, very creepy house. Even from the beginning, the book starts with some dark vibes, and the feelings you receive from the very few pages are very haunting. There are lots of secrets involving her aunt and the mystery that involves her aunt and her behavior really makes you question in which direction this book will go – and let's not ignore the 2 mysterious guys that moved in town at the same time as her.

The book besides the dark vibes also contains some triggers moments of abuse inflicted on Keena by August, who apparently doesn’t understand the word “no” and tries to grab her without her permission – from there things go very, very bad and fast. He follows her everywhere, throws soda on her, bumps on her, and is acting so horrible.

Besides the horrible person, August is, there are also amazing characters to follow, for example, Isla. She is a really nice character and grows on you so quickly and is impossible not to love her. She’s so open, so friendly and so helpful. At first, I thought she’s going to be some stuck-up girl and be mean to Kenna but in fact, she’s the opposite and their bond formed so quickly.

Kade, on the other hand, is the goofy character of the story, he will make you laugh every few pages – you can totally see how not accustomed to humans he is because he says the most inappropriate things at the worst moments ever, which makes him even more interesting.

I was already half in the book when we have finally gotten the background of Keena – at first I thought this will not be revealed in this book and I always felt having way too many questions which became a little bit frustrating, but once we’re revealed what Kenna actually is the book gets even more interesting – especially since there are things happening between Kenna and Loch and with her powers, their relationship is a very forbidden one.

There were also some things I didn’t quite enjoy or made me feel too comfortable, once we find out what actually Kenna is (she’s a siphon who absorbs the powers of the supernaturals) she transforms sort of into a werewolf and being close to Loch she gets in heat, and the way she’s acting during that heated moment is pretty weird to me – I do understand that she’s sort of no longer human and is more a beast than human, but that moment and the way she acted was pretty uncomfortable for me, however, what happened next wasn’t uncomfortable for me – that moment was pretty steamy. The book can be pretty steamy along the pages.

The book is for sure a totally different story than the normal ones that contain vampires and werewolves and this gives you another perspective on the paranormal world making it really interesting and the ending of the book leaves a lot of room for the next one to take you on a great adventure.

Initially, at the middle of the book, I thought of giving it a 2 stars review but the ending made it up for it. I had several urges to drop the book midway because the initial steamy scenes kind of felt like a supernatural version of the main character getting drugged, but overall, it's an ok read because at the end, it didn't seem like the steamy scenes were forced.

The prologue of this book immediately strikes my interest. McKenna has just moved into this freaky house in a small town in Maine. It sounds idyllic up against the forest, but presently she sees something odd. Her Aunt Tess is paranoid and has been moving her around every few months. She is almost eighteen and hoping to stay here for long enough to make friends. But who is speaking, and why is he following someone?

Her first day at Rosewood High doesn't go quite as planned, and she develops some exciting symptoms. A fever and hearing noises plus the claws. Plus, she keeps seeing mysterious red eyes. I'm definitely intrigued she seems like an ordinary teenage girl.

Kenna has her hands full between the weekend animal attack after her weird encounter with the jock at the party and the school's bad boys watching her play. Reid is trying to talk to her. She seems to be attracting all types of attention. Even her nightmares are creepy and definitely hint at something amiss. She is a child without parents. Something happened to her parents at a young age.

Hmm, I'm wondering how many paranormals are in this book and what is Reid? Lachlan seems even weirder so far. McKenna might just be a disaster magnet. Her falling ill every time she touches Reid, Lochlan or Kade is strange. But I think she is beginning to think of what Lochlan may be. The boys are very cryptic in their discussions, and this is very difficult to figure out. How is she not compatible with their type but could save them or ruin them?

So we finally get our first true reveal that Lochlan and Kade are vampires. They seem to be watching over and protecting Kenna. The book then unlocks a riddle that gets creepy. Oh, now a werewolf reveal. But why did it affect Kenna?

This book gets steamy, but we get some answers; however, they don't seem to fight their attraction to each other very much. Of course, we get more answers, and then this book gets heartbreaking. I have to say she is handling it very well for all the truth revealed, and I'm completely intrigued by this new adult paranormal vampire romance. No, she isn't a vampire, in case you were wondering. Oh, interesting, somehow the heartbreak is affecting them both, and their friends stage an intervention. But they can't have contact, so how does this work?

Wow, this book couldn't have ended with more action that was truly insane and heartbreaking, even making me cry. I can't wait for the next book in this series. So many answers and yet so much more to be intrigued by. This book does end on a massive cliffhanger.

This story is fascinating; even though it starts out as a paranormal young adult read, it does develop into more or a paranormal new adult read with the addition of some steamy interactions. All the characters are exciting, from Kenna to Lochlan and even Reid, and it did take me forever to figure what they were. I love the high school interactions and the love triangle that was there for part of the story. The angsty broody vampire and his more friendly sidekick were terrific characters.

I truly loved McKenna's character, not knowing anything about the paranormal world only to put the prices together and, of course, lose her heart to the one person she couldn't have nothing like forbidden love to make the story super appealing. I loved that she, in fact, turned out to be a rare paranormal, but I won't reveal what as you need to read this for yourself. This book was entertaining from the beginning getting better as the story progressed.
