Let me start off by saying that I wouldn't have chosen to read this book on my own; it was a book club pick. The whole book was just a bit lackluster for me. In addition, I didn't really grow attached to any of the characters (James was probably my favorite though). I don't really have anything negative to say about the story--it just wasn't my kind of book. 2 stars for an 'ok' read.

Bought at a used bookstore while on vacation at the beach. Solid beach read. Picked it because I loved Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons by the same author. This was not as good as Angry, but enjoyable all the same.

I've really enjoyed both books I've read by Landvik so far -- this one and [b:Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons|6605991|Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons|Lorna Landvik|http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51S0FT4R40L._SL75_.jpg|507242]. Sweet, fun, cozy -- perfect comfort reads.

Enjoyed this book a lot. Not a great, deep, challenging read, but the characters were endearing, the situations believable, and the family dynamics delightful.

Geneva Jordan is a well known Broadway actress used to a lifestyle that reflects her status. She would be the first to tell you that she feels âentitledâ to her perks and privileges. But she isnât without empathy and loyalty and agrees to care for her nephew, Rich, while her sister and husband take a long overdue holiday. Rich is 13, with Downs Syndrome, and what follows is a life lesson for Geneva about what is truly important and what everyone is entitled to. Predictable but âfeel goodâ in a good way. A perfect summer read.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It was a nice light book which was just what I needed.

I think most of Landvikâs books could be on this list, but this one is my favorite. Itâs about a self-absorbed, spoiled woman, a Broadway performer, who spends a month in an upscale Midwestern suburb any of us could recognize, taking care of her sisterâs thirteen-year-old son, who has Downs Syndrome.
Landvik is from the Twin Cities and has also written âThe Tall Pine Polka,â âYour Oasis at Flame Lake,â and âPatty Janeâs House of Curl,â all set in Minnesota.
