Wow. The Air I Breathe by Louie Giglio taught me so much about worship. As soon as I finished the last page, I immediately wanted to share it with others. This is a book that shouldn’t collect dust on a book shelf, it’s a book that should be passed around from person to person so that they can understand what worship is.

The book was an easy read with eleven chapters, it kept my attention throughout the entire thing and it was easy to follow the logic and flow of the author, Louie Giglio.

The book dives in from the beginning with the argument and fact that we are all worshipers. We were created to bring pleasure and glory to the God who made us. We were all made to worship. Worship is our response to what we value most.

“It seems we all are eventually captivated by the question of why. Why are we here? Is there a reason for our lives? Is there something we’re uniquely destined to do? It’s the age-old dilemma – what’s the purpose of life? The answer begins and ends with God.”

I thought this was a lot of words that could have been a 500- to 1,000-word blog post. I mean, I like the introspection that Giglio does, and I appreciate him in general, but calling this a "book" seems like a bit of a stretch.

Another solid Louie Giglio book! Contained great reminders to focus your heart and mind on the Lord at all times. It read just like one of his sermons. I wouldn’t say any information was groundbreaking or new, but it was all Gospel-centered and based on truth. I only wish it was longer/more in depth!

A good reminder that worship by default is something that we all do, and what or who we worship affects every other aspect of life. Could definitely see this being impactful for a younger audience, but that makes sense being that the author is a known influencer for the college age generation. Not a bad book, but for me it was just ok.

Like a golden retriever puppy- Excited, fluffy, cute on the outside and not a lot going on inside.

I read this book with my bible study group this summer. Teaches a lot about faith and worship and how we constantly and unconsciously do both. Giglio is great at giving real-life examples so his audience can easily relate and feel connected to.

I'd like to start by saying that my 3 out of 5 is not because of content but because of personal taste. I think this is a great book if you are starting your journey in the importance of worship or if you are a new believer or if (like I used to be) you think worship is just singing songs and you'd much rather hear the sermon. For me, this book missed the mark only because I was looking for something a little meatier, something with deeper theology.

It's an easy, quick read and I did come away a little better. It just isn't my style.

The Air I Breathe by Louie Giglio

Worship is more than singing on Sunday morning. While that’s part of it, worship is the essence of what makes us truly human. God sparked this desire within our hearts from the day He first breathed life into Adam and Eve. Since then, every single human who has walked this planet has participated in this God-given ability, and divine quest. While many have squandered their gift, there are those who find the wonder-filled life of communion with God no matter the time or place.

True freedom comes when worship flows through us as naturally as the air we breathe, when the words and actions in our lives resonate with our Creator so deeply that every inhalation is full of meaning. When we understand the holiness of the God who knows the stars by name—and His overwhelming love for each one of us—how can we offer anything less? - from the publisher.

Louie Giglio begins the book by talking about that we as humans are designed to worship. Throughout the rest of the book, he challenges the reader to question what they are worshipping. Each chapter digs deeper into the concept of worship. Beginning by defining worship, to personalizing worship to corporate worship. Christian readers will find themselves challenging what their previous thoughts on the concept of worship. This book is very readable but challenging at the same time. Recommended to any reader which wants a challenging but readable book to digest. Readers will be coming back to reread this title to continue to challenge their Christian walk.  There is no specific scripture cited during this work so if the reader is looking for a more scripture grounded read, they will be disappointed.

I received an ARC ebook from Netgalley  and the publisher, WaterBrook and Multnomah in exchange for an honest review.
