Lani Diane Rich's books are so much fun to read, filled with quirky characters and interesting plots. You never feel like you are reading the same story over and over. This one was no exception. I enjoyed every minute and finished in a day because I couldn't put it down.

got it free on kindle & was a book i did finish, unlike other free kindle books. the premise was a little crazy but it was a sweet story. i liked that the main character, carly, did grow & change throughout the story. not sure i'll ever read again though.

After having listened to who knows how many hours of Lani on her amazing podcasts I felt like I was reading this in her voice which, for me, brought something extra special to this book. Also, I really want to live in Bilby now.

I started "The Fortune Quilt" this morning and finished it before dinner; I honestly couldn't put it down. It's the story of one woman's life being "Towered," basically falling apart, and her efforts to rebuild something even better. It's a good old love story with lots of chemistry and tension. The characters are human and loveable. The dialogue is smart and enjoyable. And at the core of the book is the question of whether our lives are ruled by fate or by what we will to be. It made me think...but not too hard! This one is "fun" reading.

Easy read about healing, hope, and risk. A little quilting included as a psychic method to share a reading.

This was such a good book!! I read it for a book club and wasn't sure what to expect as I was not familiar with the author. I really liked the main character, Carly, and seeing her grow throughout the book. The little town of Bilby was so cute and I adored the quirky residents. There was some family tension that was nicely resolved. All in all, a great read!

Carly has always known exactly what she wanted out of life. She has a career as a TV producer, a loving family and an amazing best friend. What she wasn't counting on was being given a fortune telling quilt that would end up turning her whole life upside down. First her best friend confesses his undying love for her, then her job goes belly up and to top it all off her mother who's been missing for the last 17 years, shows up on her doorstep asking for forgiveness. With everything in upheaval, Carly packs a bag and drives back to Bilby Arizona where all the craziness first started. But she's unprepared for what Bilby has in store for her.

What a cute, emotionally poignant novel. It drew me in almost immediately because of its cast of kooky characters. Carly is a likable protagonist, that goes through a roller coaster ride of emotions over the course of only a few chapters. It had me choking up alongside her and raging at her family for their decisions, just the way a well written novel should have you feeling. But my biggest complaint about this novel was that the magical realism in it was seriously lacking. You've received a psychics advice and while all the advice ends up coming true... It comes true in a seriously skewed manner. Honestly all that did was make me scratch my head and wonder what the author was thinking. So while this was a cute, quick and fun read it lacked direction where the magical realism was concerned.
